wow i hope you brought a whole tool set. i wouldnt trust a brand new build to go that far until i had ridden it around town for a while to make sure everything is tight, broken in and readjusted.

I carried everything that I needed in my huge Camelbak. If I owned a lockring tool, I would have taken that too.

Crank Bros Multi 10 tool
Snap-On 14mm wrench
Pedros spoke wrench
Park FR-7 freewheel remover(fits Miche BB pefect)
spare tubular tire

The Las Vegas Valley has public buses with racks for 2-3 bikes. If I needed to, I could take a bus to the nearest shop. I wasn't planning on going that far, but I was having so much fun that I just kept going.

What route did you take? Through Red Rock somewhere? Depending on the route, centuries in Las Vegas (at least during the winter) would not be too hard. However, on a fixie is another story.

I followed this route loosely.

A few detours were for food and visiting friends at work, and a couple others so that I could show it off a bit.

Red Rock nearly killed me, but at that point the route becomes a slight downhill all the way back to Henderson. I was hoping to catch the bus from Henderson out to Boulder City, but I missed it.

It was amazing how many people(cyclists + non-cyclists) commented or asked questions about it.

Not afraid to ride in traffic are you? Well you at least had one long hill in there. Boulder HWY through Henderson.

EDIT: Oh wait, you only did half the hill and then turned towards Lake Mead. I guess you had to do the steeper portion coming back into Boulder City.

BTW: Pit Stop burger in BC has a really good vegie burger. That is where you should have stopped for lunch. If I went back to visit Vegas for some strange reason I would take the detour out to BC to get one.

So what did you do to get the 'glaze' off from the clear coat?

wet sand and rubbing compound. I did another light coat before rubbing again, which is why the glaze kina appears to be "blended" under the surface now

I started at the lake(Las Vegas Boat Harbor)and went into BC, then through Henderson on Horizon Ridge and over to Blue Diamond Highway out to Red Rock. Down Charleston Blvd heading east, then down Jones, over to Sahara all the way to Las Vegas Blvd(The Strip). I took The Strip south to Tropicana, then headed east on Trop to Boulder highway. Then Boulder Highway out to BC and back to the lake after a few Stone Pale Ales at Milo's. There's no shortage of hills(and a couple of long climbs) on the route. One day I'll get a Garmin Edge and post the route profile.

I went to high school in Las Vegas, moved away and then came back. Then, and hopefully for the last time, moved away.

I got my now-prepped GB frame back from the LBS today. I just installed the headset races in the frame (yes, using a headset press). I'm still lacking a stem, so this threadless frame is going to be forkless for a while. Next step: BB and crankset installation. I still need to buy some other minor parts, like wheels (which I'll probably build myself)....

From: Videogames ruined my life. Good thing i have 2 extra lives.

Bikes: Giant TCR2, Giant TCX, IRO BFSSFG SE, Salsa Casseroll, IRO Rob Roy.

I'm sooooo close to having mine rideable. Rear wheel is getting built up at the LBS and should be ready tomorrow. Still waiting for a machined matching front rim to show up (accidentally got sent 2 non machined rims instead of one of each). But i have a spare front wheel to use in the meantime. Otherwise, i've got everything else.

Other misc. items to pick up include cyclometer and freewheel (not necessary but will come in handy later).

It seems fitting that the guy who organized this whole thing ends up having the classiest bike. At least the classiest stem/bar combo...

I'm starting to enjoy the ride a little more, as my first impressions were so-so (riding fixed that is). The bar/stem just look so damn cool in person that I can't not like it
