Tubulars are great, nothing else rides as nice, since you can run a really low tire pressure. Clinchers always left me with a pinch flat, that's impossible with a tubbie.
There are about 5 ways that you can flat a clincher that you will never have to worry about with a tubbie. /tubbie shill but thats my only experience with tubies and my pinarello...i have little money. |

Tubular in the front / clincher in the rear seems like the best of both worlds: that way you don't have to worry about skidding through expensive tubular tires all the time. Also, rear flats occur a lot more often than front ones (atleast for me).
Isn't riding tubulars in the rain a big no-no though? |
Tubulars sound like fun--the easiest way to try them
seems like the tubular-clincher. Anyone got an opinion on how tubular clinchers roll? Like Tufos? |
Yeah tooling with the bike leads to fun!

I don't know what I like more: that pretty bike or the fact that your saddles shows you really ride that thing. there are a few ppl who don't ride their saddle just to keep it white which defeats the purpose to me (of course it is possible that they clean it religiously)

Not true. All tubular tires have several layers of rubber, cotton, kevlar, etc., depending on the tire.

Got a boring old profile shot you can post? This one looks interesting.
http://photos-077.ll.facebook.com/ph...83906_6571.jpg Next up: - Generic Kalloy silver seatpost - Dimension Stars Brown/Blue handlebar grips - Paul Crankset mmmm either all silver or black ring and silver arms - New wheelset: mmm Salsa Delgado Silver or Velocity Razor Celeste rims, black double butted DT spokes and Formula Hubs - maybe Paul if i've got the cash. If I go with the Salsas they'll be silver, if I go with the Razors they'll be black. - Still thinking about going internally geared too - maybe a coaster brake SS hub, but likely a 3 speed CB with a dyno up front for some sweet lights. - Some kind of Porteur front rack. I've got a rare parts guy with his eyes open, Cetma or Velo-Orange if nothing comes up. - Hammered steel fenders |

Warning, I have been riding this pup in the winter mush so it is very dirty right now and my chain is a bit too loose for my liking (was playing around with it trying different tensions out). It rides really solid, more solid then any other bike I have ever owned. I am thinking of going with some form of drops instead of the bullhorns now. It has about 3 months of riding on it and I am still loving it. I just got a digital camera so.. here is my pup:

It's an omamori. Yes, basically a Japanese good luck charm. You buy them at Shinto shrines. DH's is for safe travels.

Nice! That looks like a lot of fun. For that rear hub you might also want to wait for the re-issue of the Sturmey Archer ASC-3 3sp fixed gear hub. Last I heard they were gearing up for some prototypes. Might be worth looking into and see how it's coming along. Here's Sheldon's page on it (his "re-issue" info is slightly out of date): http://www.sheldonbrown.com/asc.html

True. I know three people off the top of my head who are just waiting for them to ship.
