final incarnation of the euro-mystery frame.

Are they comfortable bars?

Those look great.

Suttree 01-16-08 09:06 PM

those bars look like moustache bars
that are trying to straighten up
and fly right

haha,
I really like the frame they are attached to, and they are definately distinct bars.

shanky 01-17-08 02:33 AM

bars don't look all that comfortable. +1 how are they?

trons 01-17-08 02:38 AM

that bike needs to lose the track stem and flip the bars

yes they are. before i mentioned the bar diameter being nice
on the hands. i don't vary my hand position that much while
riding though ...i just use the outer flats and the curves.

i stupidly wrapped the bars before trying that out. as soon as i
drum up a nice cinelli road stem, i would like to give it a go.

the new ride. product of a successful SSFG trade thread inter-continental frame trade!
I sent off the Bridgestone and ended up with a lugged aluminum team Fanini Alan:

Maybe it's Snoop's Bike

I think it's actually bonded aluminium. Vitus made similar frames in the late 80's and early 90's. Apparently these types of frames are crazy light for the era but tend to flex quite a bit in larger sizes.

deathhare 01-17-08 10:28 AM

I heard they were basically glued together.

Yeah they are. Same technique Alan, vitus, etc. used.

Cynikal 01-17-08 10:51 AM

I think that's what he meant by bonded. The term I've heard is "screwed and glued". I had a specialized allez that was carbon tubes with Al lugs and that thing was a wet noodle but light.

It must be aluminum with steel lugs? Looks like rust to me?

deathhare 01-17-08 11:25 AM

It has aluminum lugs

Zombie Carl 01-17-08 11:30 AM

What's with the discoloration right under the headset?

Hrm, is this simply a Bianchi Pista? I haven't seen one of these that I've thought looked good in ages, maybe it is the little "F*ck You" on the top tube, but it looks great.

Coincidentally enough, I was at the dollar store the other day and they sell these neat rub-off decals of the alphabet and I bought a couple. I have just started to put a couple of things on my bike, just to give it some character.

Filth.

djeucalyptus 01-17-08 11:36 AM

probably residual from the headset cups?
aluminum, once slightly oxidized (like in the pics), tends to pick up mineral crap like crazy.

...

and where are more pics of that Basso? I've had two in the past, and kick myself in the nuts every time I think about them.
