You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop, the Twilight Zone!

Here's my rat special that I just finished building.....

Our local council does a kerbside collection every 6 months or so and this beast is a mix of parts picked up off the sidewalk. It's sole design brief is to transport me to the local train station - and to still be there when I come back. Oddly enough, it's actually quite a cruisy ride....

And if it get's stolen (unlikely!), it still only cost me $0

Oh yeah - and someone had attached a bottle cage with self tapping screws. Nice!

The pictures don't really do it justice - it is hideous.

Enjoy

Hillsy, that must be the coolest fugly bike here so far.

Like so bad it's actually good. Way to go!

TimArchy 02-20-08 08:00 AM

If those pictures don't do it justice I can only imagine that the real thing would cause grown men to cry.
Quite possibly the first bike I've ever seen that could be classified "unstealable"

Nice job

deathhare 02-20-08 08:40 AM

Everything is stealable in Savannah. Even the the street.

aypeeone 02-20-08 08:49 AM

Just finished this up a few days ago, still need to rewrap the bars and trim the brake line a bit

Recently, an entire beach in Hungary; huts, rides, park, 6000 cubic feet of sand and all, were stolen and removed from Hungary.

barba 02-20-08 02:25 PM

I like it bward1028, but ditch the pink chain.

Good call upgrading the fork. The stock one was a beast.

Gyeswho 02-20-08 03:40 PM

I love it^

bward1028 02-20-08 04:35 PM

pink chain was the only 1/8" i had around. it will be used in the first TT, but then hopefully i'll get something better. it looks ok in person, but not that ok.

sticker came from someone on the forums, should still be a thread somewhere

barba 02-20-08 04:36 PM

What gear are you running for the TT?

bonechilling 02-20-08 04:48 PM

Just to answer the inevitable question, the handlebars on the IRO GB above are Scott "drop-in" bars, popular with Greg Lemond and others in the late 1980s/early 1990s.

Nice photo quality, but take a photo of the drive side. It's more descriptive.

Oh and I like the build (except for the brake, get yourself a better lever!).

Yeah, and put a puppy under the pedal - that's where it's at.

i'm trying 52/15. TT is less than 5 mi, though, and i know the course.
i have the miche splined cogs, so i may switch out last minute, but probably not. it's~91 inches.
i'll probably go with the front wheel off my road bike for the actual event.

A new brake lever is probably next along with some new pedals. This is my first fixed gear but im loving it so far. Heres a few more pics, picked up the saddle a few days ago so thats why it still looks so fresh and new.
