Yeah, let's keep this thread OT and send pics in PM please. I'll send you some backyard roundwall pics from around this way.

So you can see over that?

I'm trying to figure out a way to turn my oversize Ortlieb Messenger backpack into a rear pannier for a tour this summer.

Yeah. I'm pretty tall.

I don't intend using it like this on a regular basis. I just wanted to test out the rack on the ride home from putting it on. It looks goofy as hell but it sure was fun.

As for converting your backpack to a pannier you could probably just remove the straps and use the holes where the top of the straps were secured to bolt on some kind of hook system. I can totally visualize it. It Heel strike would be the tricky part, and running on the left side would probably be your only option.

I'm in the middle of creating this right now. None of the parts are adjusted for fit yet so don't throw this into the jackass thread .. lol

Not my bike, just found the pictures on the bikeworks website.

/me vomits in mouths and swallows.

Ahhhh. That tasted better than that bike looks.

humancongereel 03-14-08 11:59 AM

if that bike had different colors, i'd dig it. it might not be a tarck purist speed bike or whatever, but it looks fun to ride.

but the colors are sick. not sick as in good.

You may but i dont....

I saw this frame today while at my LBS. I bought it, took my bike apart and put everything on this frame in the shop. They let me use their tools, it was pretty sweet. It's way tighter than my old Takara touring frame I used to ride with. I really like it.

I'm a total sucker for Miyata conversions. Nice work, but you may want to add an extra link to that chain.

Yeah, I noticed that. But it's actually fully in the dropout if you look at it from the front.

this is what it started as. i hope to have it all finished in the next week or two, but i'm getting lazy due to the weather. lol.

maddyfish 03-14-08 08:26 PM

The Miyata is steel? I broke a Miyata 714 aluminum bike where the seat tube GLUED to the BB. It broke while standing climbing up a steel hill and ejected me when it let go.

That sucks. Yeah, mine's definitely steel, just don't know what kind.
