redfb, are those track drops that you cut into bullhorns? i hear they make excellent bars, but i need to see it done right. your bike does look good, except the red grips and the too long bullhorn ends.

it seriously IS! I have found that with the cutout, I can have my bars in a low position like I do on a Pro without that pressure I used to get with a regular B17. This saddle really really is comfy and good looking (that's subjective of course) too!

Was shopping around for a ss/fixed gear bike and scored a free old trek 400.
Switched the seat, took the gears off, retaped and voila.
Love how smooth and light the bike is.

Shopping for a fixed/ss wheel/ wheelset now. Is there a decent one for around $150-200 shipping included

I also have an '80s Trek 400. It's a sweet ride!

I have a Mavic CXP22 flip-flop wheelset, and I have no complaints. You can find 'em everywhere on the web in the $140 range (add ~ $30 for shipping).

apparently, they claim that they were the first to do cut-outs in saddles, way way back.

You should read my review of this saddle and read what other people have been saying about this saddle.

yeah i need to cut them some more i thought i might need the extra bit for my hands but i have about 3 inches of unused space ..i will take a cutting wheel to them this weekend.

I luvhooters: no they are just some oldschool 40cm bars i took off of a raleigh. I choose brighter colors because i wanted to give it a summer look, this winter i will redo it..thinking about blasting it then spraying clear over the bare metal. Ratz Style haha

Thanks for the positive replies, now my wife really wants me to build her one after seeing you guys' pics on here.

no it's not.

It's so much cleaner than any of my bikes...

Well if I had spent money out of the nose for a bunch of gold-plated components to complete my rolling cliché, I'd probably be hesitant to ride it too.

its not finished yet, no? why put mileage on an unfinished ride?

baxtefer 04-24-08 01:33 PM

saddle angle == stem angle FTL.

Sixty Fiver 04-24-08 01:33 PM

My bikes are almost never done and I tend to do all the mechanical work and test ride the hell out them before doing the aesthetic finishing.

I'd rather have a bike that was solid and rode well than a really pretty bike I hated to ride because of some factor or another.
