great looking IRO.
|
got this off a Czec guy in Chicago. it's a bit small on me, but the frames run super small.
it's a 56cm.... i own a 55 pake and a 56 fetish and those both fit fairly well. i've researched Duratec's and the seatpost does run a bit high on all of them. it's a sprinters frame, so it's meant to be set up all aero style. IT'S NOT FINISHED. it's just rideable right now. but here it is. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...e/DSC_0560.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...e/DSC_0565.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...e/DSC_0563.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...e/DSC_0416.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...e/DSC_0418.jpg have fun. |

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/DSC00301.jpg A little foot retention would be a good thing unless you are a fiendishly skilled rider. |
Looks like an ideale but it doesnt appear to have a brand on the back with other ideales.
|
It looks like an Ideale model 80... mine is missing an Ideale badge on the back too and am unsure if these ever had one.

hi
i am new to the forum this is my new bike, Canadian Norco frame bought fixed but not working, so tweaked it, bought clip less pedals, new front wheel, changed the handle bar.. nothing special but i like it for commuting around Toronto...(i d love to go on rides with other Toronto ppl... i saw the thread but cant figure out when you guys go out..) i am not sure what kinda saddle is on there..but i was very sore after my long first ride.. but then again i might just have to get used to it until i have the money for something better.. http://www.frostystudios.com/bike1 http://frostystudios.com/bike2 |
come say hi in the toronto thread, im still new to it and have only met a few people, but they ride pretty regularly.
That bike turned out quite nice, is that seat angle comfortable? |

God, that's a nice looking ride. You're smart to have such a unique looking bike, too. It will be easy to spot if I ever come to western canuckistan and steal it. It's very tempting.
I posted a ton of pics in Foo's Rides and Rigs thread... that will probably help you better identify the bike although I don't believe there isn't another one like it (yet). I sold one of my well ridden and really well known bikes a few weeks ago and jokingly told the young lady that if anyone stopped her to let them she had bought the bike from me and not stole it. Anyways... it's time to take the nice looking ride for a little spin. |
freecycle.. yes it's on my wishlist just trying to come up with moolah, hehehe. the seat is an IDEALE my bro got for $5 from a garage sale, hehe.
Sixty Fiver... the lock ring is there it's just the angle of my photo. but i'm not using a dura lock ring. we kinda did it a lil ghetto style but with lock tight.;) |

I like the "in the build" pics and post a lot of them myself... it is nice to see how bikes evolve and you just have to take what people say here with a grain of salt as they tend to be hyper critical of anything that does not meet their idea of what's cool or right.
Right is what makes YOU happy. With that I think I'll be good with my Twenty for a little while... I have to put some black cloth over the new cork as it will really extend the life of the cork bar wrap. This bike started out as a lets build a stripped down folding pocket rocket and has evolved into lets build a folding retro club bike / tourer... it just happens. Here's the before: http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...ipstwentya.jpg Here's somewhere in the middle: http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...restfixed6.jpg And here's where I'm at... and I am liking this. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...estnewside.jpg Now I have to find a classic looking handlebar bag and fabricate a rear rack for some matching saddlebags but I think I'm pretty happy with how the bike is shaping up. A question on sizing with raleigh 20's. are they all the same size and if so what's the maximum amount of seat and bar height that they can handle. I ride 62 cm frames usually and want to know if I would be able to comfortably ride one. |

I'm five foot ten... the new seat post on my Twenty will accommodate normal people in excess of six feet and the stems can be changed for longer versions to bring the bar height up. My friend is six foot two and only has an issue riding my Twenty as he has a 36 inch inseam and even the extra long seat post will not extend far enough for him to ride the bike... but he's a freak. His 62cm Trek 620 still has nearly foot of seat post to account for his abnormally long legs. |
Met myfriend down at the (bike) shop and after he did some wheel work we had to stop off for a little chai... he rides the world's fastest Free Spirit.
I'll be taking some better pics of his Austro Daimler / Puch 531 framed Free Spirit tomorrow and let me tell you...he rides that bike and pushes 84 gear inches like it is nothing but was also impressed at how fast my little Twenty is and how quickly it dials up. We're gonna ride tomorrow and I will have to break out the French girl so I can keep up (and mebbe school him a little) since her gearing is a little closer... the Twenty only runs 70 gear inches. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...freespirit.jpg |
