Its designed to be mounted on the sloping part of handlebars. Kinda like this lever was.

I would have to disagree, 62-64 look great IMO. Maybe it was the fact that I rode a too small frame for longer than I should have, but then again, my opinion means nothing, so, um, carry on.

That's at least partly because you rotated the lever to an angle that's not very functional. If you had gigantic saddle-bar drop, it would make a bit more sense, but you've got almost none.

Unfortunately those bars have a bulge there that wont let the clamp mount any further down. As for not being functional.....it's functional enough to stop the bike when I squeeze it. :)

humancongereel 04-18-08 06:22 PM

kanye needs to tie his shoes before riding. otherwise, whatever, i guess that's all right. i'm not into it, but i guess it's cool that a high-profile entertainment star is repping the bikes, right? i guess...?

frankstoneline 04-18-08 06:25 PM

dude needs to hacksaw those risers.

humancongereel 04-18-08 06:46 PM

looks fine to me.

barba 04-18-08 06:50 PM

I don't really know anything about Kanye West, but why does it seem to bother people that he rides a fixed gear bike? Honest question.

deathhare 04-18-08 06:53 PM

Because he doesnt dress like they dress.

~Stuart~ 04-18-08 07:13 PM

I suppose it's a taste issue,
if it was MY bike, those bars would get the saw.

I think the reason people hate is because they feel he rides a fixed gear bike because it has become fashionable. Ironically most of the people who post here probably got into fixed gear riding due in part to it's fashion element. I know the fashion element got me curious, I wouldnt have known anything about it unless I had seen FG bikes in their "hip" forms and gotten curious.

letsthrowfries 04-18-08 07:54 PM

How does a gangsta track even ride? They only come in two sizes and seem like oversized bmx bikes fitted for 700c tires; which probably means they're beefy and can probably take a beating.

Personally, I think it's f***ing sweet Kanye repping bicycling, less a**holes on the road- they get into cycling, they get on their bikes once in a while to look cool and they finally get to empathize with the hazards we face when we're trying to ride- meaning we get heckled/harassed when less riding in the street, best case scenario of course.

Four years ago, in my ripe mid-adolescence, the only people I knew who rode fixed were the old hands of the bike trade who were my bosses. Nowadays, FG's are ridden by people who don't really consider themselves cyclists, and who think of a bike as an accessory, not as a hobby or a passion. And as far as accessorizing goes, Kanye's pretty much the epitome. So he's epitomizing the demise (or at least the perversion,) of something a lot of us found to be purdy special.

That's why, so's I see it. [/tear.]

Simple, because fixed gear bikes = cool. Kanye = uncool.

Are you sure that seat is high enough. I'm 6'2 and ride a 67cm with about the same amount of seat post showing. Maybe I just have freakishly long legs, They just don't seem like they're long compared to my arms at 6'6" wingspan.

YellowFixedGear 04-18-08 10:30 PM

It's almost done.
Still waiting for my Reynolds 531c tubing stickers and glow in the dark green grips to arrive in the mail. Still have to send out the Campy Record cranks out to be powdercoated black too.
Below is a pic of what it looked like when I got it.

Super old and rare EG Bates track frame (glow in the dark paintjob)
Campy Record 165 cranks
MKS Peddles
Aerospoke wheels
105 headset (soon to be black Chris King)
Thompson Seatpost
Really old Unicanter seat.
Etc......
Enjoy
