Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

This is my friend's bike with the FBM Sword frame. I already told him about the seat/post.

Finished my first fixed gear last night - it came together with help of some friends and a ENO wheel build. Can't wait to start commuting to work again...

I'm guessing they bumped the fork out for barspin-purposes. Of course, that means the thing likely handles like a Schwinn Varsity, though I'm sure everyone who owns one says "it rides like a dream."

My question is are those actually ****ing cottered cranks, or are they some kind of full-size BMX rig? My money's on cottered.

bumping a fork out doesn't make a frame/fork any more barspinnable. less rake and/or lengthening the fork will make it more barspinnable.

Here is a pic of my bike as it looks now.
Picture quality is poor due to it coming from my camera-phone...

Thanks! It's an early 90's Nishiki Competition frame made out of Tange steel.
It might look better without brakes i guess but buying brake pads is waaay cheaper than tyres. Plus with a 46-15 ratio, i can't stop this thing quick enough wthout them.
