What kinda frame is that Pete?
I bought it secondhand but it was in great condition. |
Completely finished finally. Very happy with the finished product and weights.
The bonded Syntace F99/Easton EC90 Equipe bars on the Giant SS are amazingly stiff when climbing. Plus they look very cool. do you ever get the feeling that you kinda have three of the same bike?
|
Nope not at all. Three very different bikes with very different rides.
Try it some time. |

I do not really care about the weight of my bikes. I just have a very good attention to detail and when you strip a bike down to one speed, naturally you loose weight. I could go lighter;) |

I do not really care about the weight of my bikes. Is it that hard to admit? Now I see why people liken weight weenies to addicts. No one really cares that you care about weight, but above all you shouldn't care if they did. I actually don't care about the weight of my bike (not your 13lb version of "I do not really care"), but I'd still be really interested in riding any one of those bikes. I'm sure it feels nice. |

The other part I just love and love to have fun with is peoples reaction to the bikes. If you honestly think I do not care about the weights, you should see what I have modified to get them this low. That is the fun part. How many people on this site have taken apart a rear derailleur and cut the weight by 15%-20%. It is a very fun hobby that I totally love. The only thing that I love more about the bikes is riding them. When I was thinking about doing a single speed and a fixed gear, I got tired of looking at all the older bikes that were made into fixed gears. No one was taking anything new and making it a fixed gear and pushing what was possible. Anyways, I have always been the type of person to do it a different way which does not mean my bikes are better or worse but they are just something different that I personally love. All the bikes on the site are great and everyone does it for their own reasons and to their own tastes. If I REALLY CARED about the weight of my bikes then I would have used a lot lighter parts and spent a lot more money.. I just care a bit more than the next guy.;) |
There isn't anything wrong with liking light bikes.
You're probably Jesus on the roadie forum. haha, Nice bikes. I'd like a 13lb Langster... especially in that finish, from back when the Langster looked tasteful. |
"If you honestly think I do not care about the weights, you should see what I have modified to get them this low."
Er, what? I never said that I think you don't care--exactly the opposite. Your contradictions are hard to wrap my head around. "If I REALLY CARED about the weight of my bikes then I would have used a lot lighter parts and spent a lot more money. . I just care a bit more than the next guy." |
Ok, I put a mavic ksyrium Elite wheel up front to replace my Mavic Ellipse. Now I have a brake surface and a wheel that looks almost identical to the old one.

"If I REALLY CARED about the weight of my bikes then I would have used a lot lighter parts and spent a lot more money. . I just care a bit more than the next guy." If I really cared about weight (cared a lot more that is), I would have built them even lighter and would have spent a lot more to get there. There is no cost to big that goes along with "Really Care" I put a cost to each build and did not exceed it. With building 8 bikes over the last 2 years to create the stable that I have now, I had to care about weight but not really care. Pretty simple really and it does not contradict anything that I have said. :p |
you should have said "care more" or "care a huge amount." "if i really cared" sounds like you don't care enough, which is obviously not true.
sure you could make a 12 lbs langster but let's be realistic. that's a good 3 pounds lighter than anyone who doesn't "really care" about weight will ever make theirs. |
