You should have used this brake lever

I'm not really a fan of gold anodized stuff but to each his/her own.

Yeah I wanted to exercise some restraint and limit the gold to chain/stem/bars. I'm getting bullhorns and a thomson stem next week for a more sensible, commuting option.

Mercy me, that looks like a genuinely bad idea. That braided carbon nonsense is weak enough when paired with a regular seatpost, but those tiny little rail grips are basically just scissors.

not to mention brittle Ti seatpost.

it is a flickstand - they were manufactured in the 80's...it holds the front wheel in place.

cc700 05-25-08 10:38 PM

weird. kind of like a parking brake.

1000's of KM's on this combo and barely a mark on the rails. More than fine. If you take some sand paper and break all of the sharp edges to smooth them out a bit it helps a lot when mounting carbon to metal parts. I do this on all of my stems as well when using carbon bars.

Thats a "flick stand". Say you want to lean your bike against a wall...by flicking that down, it holds the tire straight.

Got out on a 4.5 hour single speed ride today...I posted specs pages ago. Here is my 1994 Dean Colonel:
