I should have a front brake on it within a day or so. replaced the heavy, no-name lockring with a dura-ace.

Bridgestone Columbus Genius tubing. Had to throw on crappy parts since its my ride to work so its done for now. The nicer stuff will get thrown on soon.

TNCLR, I met the owner of your old Merckx. Was it SLX? The seat stay and the fork are different than mine. From the looks of it, the geo is different too. Looks custom [hence the racer's name on the TT]...

Interesting.

Here's my first fixed. (Also in Mercier threads)
Orange Kilo.

Yeah, it was different than yours despite the identical paint jobs. I seem to remember me and Sasha comparing serial numbers and yours was from 96? Mine was from 92-94. There was no sticker denoting the tubing used. It seemed a too new for SLX, but that is just a guess. I believe it was a custom frame for Etienne De Wilde. It measured 53 c-c seat w/ a 56cm top tube.

Here's a picture of him racing it:

That is perfect! Please tell me you have some track drops and it'll be seeing the 'drome plenty?! Have you thought of the dt swiss RR1.1's? they are a great rim, lighter and I think better constructed. That being said I like the ceramic OP's a ton and I have a set that I love.

andre nickatina 07-10-08 01:29 AM

I'd be inclined to believe IRD's Cadence rim (390g box rim) would be even better than that DT 1.1 after seeing how high quality their Cadence Aeros are (come very true and round, spoke tensions build up very evenly and stay that way).

For sure and you missed the Black Nitto B123AA-HT in the first picture. I'm sure those are great rims, but I think I'll be happy with the OPs.

Live2Die 07-10-08 01:31 AM

ooo didn't even think about those. OP's are not on par with that build though, not that they're not nice just not GWP grade.

andre nickatina 07-10-08 01:39 AM

Word, Zipps are what that build is really asking for haha...

good point, i didn't mean that to sound like each gram counted -- just that the lockring looked extra thick and clunky for some reason.

Spicer

Here's the Spicer I just got. It came with a brake, which I took off, and it did not come with pedals. It rides super sweet. The bars will be wrapped.

So awesome!

Yeah, him and I were comparing sizes :p and details. I noticed his seatstays weren't chromed but he did have the EM panto at the cluster like the Leader frames. His frame lacked the panto EM on the fork Crown.

Thanks for the info.

Here's the kid who owned mine:
