If I owned a video camera I absolutely would. My riding buddy hits 47mph on that descent on his tarmac. He also keeps going for another 24 miles after I head home. Riding with someone that much faster than me makes me push my comfort zone a bit, and probably makes me better if I don't die.
I'd like to see that video too. |

40mph would be like 180rpm's. 210rpm for your buddy, assuming he's running the same ratio.
I'd like to see that video too. yeah, thats what i am driving at. doesn't seem possible, to put it lightly. |

I'd like to see that video too. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...92981_9683.jpg actually it would be 160rpm for me according to the calculator at 84.1 gear inches It's not like I'm riding to the bar in jeans like that. Like I said it's the top speed I reach at the bottom of the fastest descent. I rock full roadie gear and clipless when I do this ride. I'm kind of surprised this is so shocking to people, because I'm pretty positive there are lots of people on here who are stronger riders than me. |
47 downhill on a road bike = very doable.

I like the black, brown and red. Classy looking build, tell us more about it.
Picked it up from a garage sale last spring. Its a Zebrakenko from the late 70's/early 80's maybe? I repainted it. I put Vuelta Pro V's on it a few days ago (wrapped with Michelin Oriums). The bars are chopped and flopped, with amber shellac to match the honey brooks b17. Andel 165mm cranks (46t, 17t cog.) That's pretty much it. I love the bike but it's a tiny bit too small for me ( I think its ~50cm), so I just ordered a 53cm Kilo frame and I plan to transfer all the parts over to that. |

How are you tensioning the chain?
|
single, I hate chain tensioners though, I luckily got it pretty close without using one... That chain has been on there a couple months, I'll keep buying new chains if I have to.
