Alright finally got some pictures of my first fix back from the lab. I know the shots aren't great but whatever. Mavic wheels, lots of generic other parts but the nitto bulls are my pride and joy. Ratio is 45x16. Switching the frame out for a real track frame this week (Pogliaghi...mmm) because I'm tired of dealing with road drops and don't wanna get it welded.

here's some photos of my beloved. the handlebars are a temporary setup while i save my pennies for a new pair of nitto randonneurs. this is probably as hip as my bike is ever going to look so i thought I'd shoot now and ask questions later.
http://www.pdbd.com/otherimgs/trek2103s.jpg http://www.pdbd.com/otherimgs/trek2104s.jpg http://www.pdbd.com/otherimgs/trek2106s.jpg the handlebars are cheap steel MTB uprights from a late 80s trek an ex-roommate left in the basement. (come to think of it, the rack is from there too.) I cut about three inches off the end of each side with a pipecutter, and flipped and mounted them. The riding height is very comfortable for me--like a low flat bar or a high set of drops. Handling is weird. Very twitchy. I doubt it'll be much good on long trips or up serious hills, but it's fun for now. in a month or so, in time for the Tour d'Organic, it'll sport new wheels and new bars, and i will post updated shots. jeez i love riding this bike. thanks to y'all for your help and advice o'er the past few months. notable parts: 1982 trek 510 or 710 (reynolds 501) converted by one tlupfer sugino 75 165mm cranks 48t sugino chainring 18t soma cog jb-welded to stripped suzue basic on mavic ma3 continental grand prix tyres crank bros candy SL pedals 3ttt stem on aforementioned bars tektro cx lever yankin' a vintage weinmann 605 selle san marco era-luxe saddle period-perfect zefal hp. edit: sorry no driveside photo, i couldnt get it to read. maybe later... |

Good lookin', in my opinion. Let the haters hate, that bike is ready to do some work.
I like the bars, I ran my mountain bike bars like that for a minute, but ultimately decided it wasn't doing anything for me. Now I have them actually rising with just a slight forward rake. |
i like it too, weed eater. my town bike is getting there, but not quite yet. function function function!
|
Looks good weed. What's that bar thing on your seat tube?
|
you mean the frame pump? Handy for blowing things up.

sweet jesus! love the combo of the chrome and the white tyres for some reason.
|
Muy bien! Even though I hate radial lacing, I love that bike. I've been really taken with white tires lately. I bet they don't weather for jack though. Too bad. Sharp!

hahaha. flourecent orange one shot , you cant go wrong , working with no ventilation... well you know. |
They're chrome I believe...looks really nice man. Nice job!

the stays are chrome. I gilded the gold image. I was going to gild a pattern around all the lugs, bit decided not to get too flashy. its the mikkelsen that was on ebay about 2 months ago. I never would have taken a chance on a custom frame off ebay, but the measurements checked out and it was such a good price I couldn't say no. it fits me great and was just what I was looking for.

I believe he's referring to Phil(is that right?) Mikkelsen who makes some of the sickest frames.
