hey gyeswho,
i had the same problem when i ran my miche primato advanced crankset on my cinelli. i ran a campy record double bb with a spacer to get the closest chainline possible to a 42 (ended up with a 42.5 which i cant complain about) but my spider arms would only touch the chain stays when i flex the cranks with my hands but never had a problem under heavy torqueing. but on my non drive side it rubbed just as your picture to about that much extent. i dunno if you would want to do it but i corrected it by slowly grinding the corner of the crank arm off with a dremel. worked like a charm and havent had a problem wih it since.

Thanks. I'll leave that as a last option

Here are some post holiday updates on my Trek T1.
Primarily, Selle San Marco Ponza saddle, white bar wrap, changed the spd's to straps for the winter, and Easton Delta Force bullhorns (not pctured)

No. Don't dremel a Campy Pista Record. This is the worst suggestion ever.

Thanks. It's the end of the arms that kiss the stays, but it's because the stays are so round and fat compared to ovalized stays. I have to call Tom and see what he says about it.

Yeah dude, totally.
That part of the crank doesn't even structurally help your pedals stay on. I mean, it's only the part of the bike that you put MOST of your weight on, no problem.
Slice and dice.....

Please don't do anything to that crank. You could seriously injure yourself.

Some of the post by the guy with the bike said he wanted to put omniums on his bike and since those are readily available so i wouldn't feel bad about sanding mine a little if it meant I COULD ACTUALLY RIDE MY BIKE. But i understand not grinding those but if they were my favorite and changing the BB doesn't fix it i would probably cut it down, it would be painful though.

crawdaddio 02-08-09 07:11 PM

idiot.

gkelley 02-08-09 07:16 PM

okay, never mind you convinced me it's a bad idea, but still i'd want to ride my bike

crawdaddio 02-08-09 07:18 PM

There are many things you can do.
Buy shorter cranks, for one.
Do some research.
