I'm taking a hacksaw & some JBweld to my cannondale track frame when I get home!

I love that Yamaguchi - love it. There's something about how odd it looks that makes it look classic - sort of future retro. You can see the lines in the negative space - the way BikeWorks have put it together works very well for it. The Brooks is a nice touch for such a forward but classic looking frame.

Thats quite possibly teh strangest, yet coolest, bikes i've ever seen. Let me stress the COOLEST part.

That bike is even crazier when you look at the other photos of it. The non-drive side is insane!

What is involved in that finish. I know what it feels like, but how does it work? It seems like it would be really tough but i guess you would see it more if that were the case.

A before/after post for everyone:

This has been my summer, thus far. I bought this bike, an early 80's Raleigh "Racing USA" Competition from a guy off of Craigslist, after driving across town and finding that it wasn't, in fact, an old British Raleigh. He wanted to get rid of it, so I talked him down and rode it for a few weeks before finding out (in the Classics/Vintage forum) that the frame was completely chromed underneath the paint. So, I stripped it, and even I was just like, "Wow."

I bought a used fixed-gear wheelset from another guy off of Craigslist, went to Yojimbo's and got the chain all set up, and put on bullhorns from Chucksbikes. I've increased my bike DIY knowledge at least tenfold working on this throughout the last few months, and I'm very happy with it.

bodegabandit 08-03-05 05:58 PM

Super sweet! When are you going to show it of to all of us Chicago cats .

chicagoamdream 08-03-05 06:19 PM

Thanks, I'm very keen on meeting all of youz guys. I was going to do the Marauders ride last Saturday, but I crashed on my way home from Critical Mass and kinda screwed my (old) handlebars and (current) right knee up. I was definitely waiting for the 'horns to come and pull this whole thing together before I made a debutante out of myself--if you see me, holler.

Addiction is not the word but I have recovered or am recovering.. I am selling 3-5 framesets. I am missing 5-6 bikes in the pic that are in somebody's else hands now on loan or in storage.

Ok, obviously not a bike photo, but I figured the musicians among us would appreciate this. This was the scene at my work in the morning.

Yeah my clients always comment on the bikes when they see two track bikes laying against the wall =)
