Still, you do feel like a numbnuts badass rolling around with a trailer hooked to a track bike. Man, I can't imagine running no brakes + trailer. Hell, I can't imagine actually having a load in there if I only had the front (another reason not to use my fixes as cargo pullers). I'd be afraid of bending the forks.

Awesome, but what the hell would you haul in there? Bricks? Dirt?

1) Fruits.
2) Dog.
3) Beer.

I plan on doing serious weekend shopping at the Haymarket and eating better, eating locally, and saving a buck and having fun in the process.

Meanwhile, I've already begun training on #2 though Sascha is far from convinced that I know what I'm doing. We've done just some slow-moving rolls around the kitchen and she really hates that. But I figure when we go live she'll be strapped in and will love it after a couple of trips. She was terrified of cars when we first tried to put her in one, but now she goes nuts when we have one because she knows it means we're going somewhere.

Beer is last on the list because I actually already have a rack on the mtb that carries a case quite nicely. But options are good.

edit: 9pm, same day. Me and the dog completed a little over five miles on the bike path in the trailer of destiny, winding it all the way up to 3rd gear and I-don't-know-how-fast (forgot the computer at home). She seems to think it's approximately awesome now.

If there's a hell, I'm 'driving the bus' as my co-workers would say.

ImOnCrank 08-11-05 02:30 PM

HAHAHA, what would jesus ride. Tasteless and wonderful.

sloppy robot 08-11-05 04:19 PM

thats hilarious.. if youre driving the bus.. im bringing the keg and cocaine

Mueslix 08-11-05 05:18 PM

Don't go to Haymarket, they get the very last of the produce. Nothing will last more than a day or so. Any other open air market is better.

jrowe 08-11-05 05:44 PM

What you find at Haymarket, I've been told, is the crap the stores refused to buy.

That Jesus thing is freaking hilarious.

jacobs 08-11-05 05:49 PM

I buy produce at Haymarket all the time. Does me right, especially being as I spend 1/10th as much on it.

Yeah, my plan is to buy in bulk and expect a lot of it to be not-so-great. But still, it's cheap and it's a good excuse to load up on things that are good for me. I'll go earlier in the day to get the best of what's there.

Oh, and because I can, here's a couple of photos.

awww, trevor, your dog is adorable!!! heh - and nice to you for you on the trailer. it looks real utilitarian; i think my sister and i should figure some sort of set-up out for the winter.

yea that rules.. whats the dog think of the trailer? looks to be chillin..

bostontrevor 08-11-05 09:51 PM

When we started trailer training two nights ago she was pretty skittish, but after a ride last night and then this afternoon's trek, she's a bonafide booster. I did drop her off the back taking a corner at what I thought was reasonable speed. She just sort of pushed along with her upper body still in the trailer until I slowed down to let her climb back in (not long).

Generally speaking, she loves to travel.

[ fwiw, that's a cannondale bugger, the first commercially available bike trailer if you believe c'dale. also their first product offering. anyhow, this is definitely not pictures of FG/SS bikes... my bad. fin. ]

Blemishes do not make for bad food, just bad marketing. I shop for third rate produce whenever possible to avoid the 'supermarket perfection' mentality, and save tons of money.
I grow enough apples, plums, peaches, tomatoes to keep us in supply year round. I have leaf lettuce, peas, green onions for part of the year. Other things I am thinking about.

Really cute dog in trailer shots.

Now, is the dog FIXED? :)

Ha! Good one... indeed she is, though she was actually in heat by the time that was done. (shelter dog)

Third-rate produce sometimes tastes like third-rate produce. Supermarket produce nearly always tastes like third-rate produce, even if it does look nice. Home-grown produce is the very best, but I can count on one hand the number of people I've known in DC (and now Boston) over the last 18 years that have had a garden with edibles growing in it.

As long as you are providing pictures of bi/quadropeds that are fixed, this should be ok. :)

IRO Mark V 53cm. Stock except: Brooks B17 Champion Special, Eggbeater Candys in white, Nitto B125 38cm and clear Oury grips. I rode a Langster before getting this bike and man o man this bike rules. The ride is definitely softer than the aluminum as well as more responsive and feels much faster. I recently switched from the flat Nitto bullhorns (alu) to the B125 and I don't think that I will be switching back anytime soon. Aside from the fact that they look sexy as hell, I don't seem to really notice that much difference in control.

Peace,
RLH

P.S. Tony Arms is the man!!!!

I have an off topic question. I recently acquired a beautiful older frame but it has some rust on the fork. What is the best way to remove the rust? The fork is full chrome. I will post pics of the bike once it is built up. Thanks.

untitled 08-12-05 09:16 AM

i recently polished some light rust of a chrome frame by using a metal/chrome polish that i picked up at target. i can't remember what it's called at the moment, but it was pretty cheap and it worked great. if it's only surface spot rust, that should take care of it. if it's deeper, well, i don't know.

#0000 Steel wool.

Seriously. Only get the #0000 grade stuff. Works wonders.

Hey, dog/trailer guy! That's Boston (The Colonnade)...sorry, just thought I'd point out the obvious.

My "clear" Ourys yellowed really badly after about two days of being parked in the sun outside of my work.
