As it is my boys rest on the top bar when I fail to trackstand (which is often, I'm still learning). I'm in need of a cheap frame around 56cm or so if anyone in MPLS has one lying around.

Try some WD-40 & some very fine steel wool & lots of elbow grease. That usually works well

Beautiful bike. I have no clue how to figure out what it is. What is it? I'm in love! Is it a KHS aero?

It is a KHS Aero, late 90s. I love it but unfortunatley I have to sell it. I originally bought it from raygunner, so I figured I should show him what I did to it before I let it go. And thanks for hookin the picture up dubteka.

raygunner 08-15-05 08:27 AM

I saw you riding it around Kinzie & up Wells the other week.

Over half of this will be replaced in short order when I get the money.
Things that will be replaced:

Fun picture to emphasize the nerdiness of my color coding.

The would be money shot, only if I had my Campy crank set on there...

OK Eddie, you get me a photo spread in Black Book and I will sell you the bike for cheap. And by the way, do you know Adriana Guerrero, I would say you have to.
Thanks kyle

ok, here it is. i keep wanting to take updated pics but i live in a 6 floor walk up and it lives downstairs in the bike room. so this is from a few weeks ago, i put this bike together largely from ebay, though bikeworks built the wheels.

marinoni custom frame (custom for someone else) off ebay, 61cm st, 60 tt, came with a shimano 105 headset
i swapped the undrilled track fork with a bikeworks generic chrome fork
miche bb and cranks 165mm, 49 chainring
surly hub, mavic rims
soma 18 cog and lockrnig [soon to be replaced with a 17 miche splined deal]
so gearing is 49/18
3ttt 130mm stem
nitto sawed off bullhorns
textro lever and shimano something caliper [ive switched to an old style road lever on the extension of the bullhorns]
thomson seat post
turbo saddle
bontrager mtb pedals [now with metal cages and white leather straps]

ive also taken the tape off the seat tube. im not settled on my handlebar/brake lever situation, i think i may get some non-chopped bullhorns so i can get a little more extension. also that white bar tape gets dirty fast around here. oh ya and the seat angle is back to normal.

Your time will come, just like mine. Actually, all I'm waiting on is money for the wheels...

Hey Mark, you guessed right, this is Kerry. I was originally going to wait until I got my build to where I felt it was worthy of posting, but it's taken a little longer than expected due to a shortage of cash. Also, since I'm headed out of town in a day, I decided to get that posed photo on the Eliza Furnace trail that I'd been holding out on. Once I had the photo I decided to suck it up and post my bike in its current state, but just mention what I have in mind for the build. As far as you seeing my bike daily, it won't be seen there anymore as I'm headed back to school at Miami University. I parked it there because it was sheltered from the elements while I went at my internship at Heinz. The drops are only for the track as I'm not completely confident in my stopping ability. I put them on for the pictures because this thread is all about bike vanity, so why not make my bike look ridiculously intent on being vain?

Have you already posted your ride?

soulcialist 08-16-05 05:54 AM

kerry, check your PM's

.

I want to post a pic of my bike on here but I can't b/c the attachment is too large? I downloaded another pic already posted here of a bike and tried to repost it and I got the same message...too large? Is there a secret or something that will allow me to post the pic I have of my bike?

mcatano 08-16-05 01:10 PM

It's a sunny day and I'm not at work. Thank goodness for steam cleaning.

Anyway:
-Custom for someone else frame of unknown origin; I'm guessing it's British because of the wraparound seatstays. The track ends look homemade. It was broken in two when I got it.
-Miche Primatos laced to Campy Ypsilon rims.
-Dura-ace cranks and pedals. 52x19. Cheap Izumi chain.
-Ye Olde $9 special white perf leather Selle San Marco Regal, stained blue by pants.
-Nitto B123s w/ formerly clear Oury grips, white tape (Silva maybe?), and jaunty red Cateye bar end plugs.
-130mm 3T Mutant Classic stem.
-FSA threaded headset.

Try reducing the resolution down between 54-72 pixels per square inch.

bostontrevor 08-16-05 01:47 PM

Those forkends look familiar... Maybe on a Raleigh? Any idea of the vintage? It seems unlikely that it's a club or path racer given the lack of eyelets and I suspect brake holes.

Have you tried posting to the classic forum here?

When you say broken in two, what do you mean? What'd you do to get it fixed?

I am a computer dummy...how exactly is this done? And how do you post it without it being an attachment?

jim-bob 08-16-05 03:41 PM

Same old bike, new headset, new coat of dirt.

http://entirely-adequate.com/woo.jpg

Oh yeah, newly-lengthened fork, too. Thanks bernie!

Loads of British framebuilders used those trackends at one time or another. I can off hand think of seeing them on Carlton, Dave Russell, Harry Hall, maybe I've seen them as far back as a Hobbs. Dunno about Raleigh, although they were connected with Carlton (as a parent company) for a while, so... .
The holes drilled in them were most likely done by a previous owner.
Wrapover stays could be older Hetchins, Mercian, possibly Holdsworth and anybody else that wanted to copy their style.

And yea, what'dya mean it was broken in two?!?!
Nice lookin ride by the way. Really liking the wheels and love the mucky chain :p

Ya know, I might be the wrong guy to ask unless you own a Mac too (G5), and or have Photoshop, Illustrator, Studio Artist... ect.

Then, I could be of service.
