that's from e-framebank. i picked it up a while back -- right before they stopped shipping to the US. it just took me forever to get it pieced together.

it's really hard to get a good idea of what the glitter paint job actually looks like -- the picture of the seatcluster gets it the closest.

Wow, nobody will ever question your commitment to Sparkle Motion!

i really should have gone with the suzue disco hubs to increase the ridiculousness factor even more. alas, they're not as nice as the da hubs.

you can probably guess what it is.

What saddle is on this bike? It looks like it has reflectors built into it.

Brass implants. Standard fair for that era of seat. The Rolls, Turbo's, and a few others have them.

kennethalan 09-09-05 01:12 PM

Oh. I had a turbo and it definitely didn't have implants. I never get the ****** ones.

it's a turbo special. '91 nashbar has NOS for sale now.
it's the first time i tried one and it's one of the most comfortable of all the saddles i've used.

Good Eveniing,
I have just finished my first single speed bike and it is a lot more fun to ride than I had imagined. I have not been on a single speed since about 1958 when I had a 20" Schwinn.... what a difference!!
This bike is so QUIET that I was able to ride past the dreaded Freckle's house without raising his ire.
I bought a frame on eBay and got the parts (all new) from various online and local sources. I relied heavily on this forum, FGG, and Sheldon Brown's articles for information to complete this project.
Here is a list of the components and a picture of the bike. There are more photos on my photo web site at:

Here are some close ups of the "paint job" on my bike. I made paper patterns that wrapped the tubes and followed the contour of the welds. Then i used used those patterns on a roll of adhesive backed vinyl. cut 2 layers worth and stuck it on the frame... I really wanted a white and chrome bike, i thought about powdercoating but it costs $, takes time, and i would have had to take the bike apart. This job cost $2 for a roll of sticky vinyl, and one evening... and i get to have chrome stays with any color break line i want. If i want the chorme back i can just peel away.

I took the photos before riding the bike. I have never used that type of bars and did not really know where they would be set. I have also never used this size (56cm) frame before. When I bought my last bike in 1982, the "proper" size for a person of my height and inseam was 62cm. As time went on and "proper" sizing methods changed, I was shrinking... I am now a full inch shorter. All the preliminary measurements for saddle height, bar height and reach that I made in setting up the bike were determined from measurements of my current two (62cm) road bikes and a healthy dose of good old fashioned guesswork. The set up shown in the photos was just a starting point. I rode it as far as the mailbox (.75 mi.) and then adjusted the bars, stem, seatpost and saddle so that it is more comfortable. The bars have been rotated up so that they are almost parallel to the top tube and may be moved higher still. I expect that it will be about a week or two before I have it adjusted to my liking. I like the way it rides now but I think I may want to go to a slightly longer stem to increase the reach a little.

GravityHurts: That Orange ZicZac is AMAZING!! I really think it would be doing that bike a disservice takin' the brakes off and filing off the cable guides. Leave it be and get some other frame to build up fixed. Or just build up a 650 flip-flop wheel so you can get the feel of riding it fixed.

Please gravHurts, Don't hurt 'em!

[Edit] Seriously, GravHurts, I'd buy that bike from you as is in picture if 56cm wasn't too small for me. If I had more money i'd buy it right now and give it to my sister.

Dude, have you taken that thing down Lombard hill yet********** At least do that. For me? Please?

Ok, since the bike wears 650c wheels it's going to ride lower than a bike with 700c wheels on it. This is good cuz then you get that real nice lowered center of gravity and are able cut the precise turns an' stuff.

----Cut to the chase, dumba$$-----

What's the bottome bracket height like on this frame? I would assume it's been kept kinda low for trhe ultimate in tight quarters maneuverability, yet high enough to not bottom out on curbs and such. If this thing goes fixed, won't you be scrapin' pedal quite frequently?

Thanks!

The yellow NYC bike was nice but if im going to be selling these frames I need to be riding them.. ya know :)
Im changing out the bottom bracket tonight for a 107 insted of the 110 since im riding it with the BMX cranks. Some people have given me flack for putting them on but I seem to like the BMX cranks on the big aluminum frames.. maybe its just me.. im a little crazy :P

There is a guy in the city that has an old Somac track frame with a full campy buildup for $750.00 (campy hubs, headset,cranks,chainring,seatpost,etc..... ) Its got nice lugs and everything.. Wonder how I could hide it from my wife...

I LOVE THIS BIKE!! BRILLIANT!

...and I also hate it when people repost pics, but holy money shot, this is sweet! List of priorities has changed.

1. 650c FREEwheeled singlespeed for surgical maneuvers.
2.Ti Cyclcross frame left in the raw with Ti Spork tack welded to head-tube.
3.Girlfriend
4.career

What originally caught my eye was the fast back seat post binder. Just like the one on my powder blue Eisentraut (Mmmmm...). It's kinda funny. I thought the ZicZac was some kinda 60+cm frame due to the tall head tube and smaller looking wheels. Nay way, pilgrim, It's a mid-size with small wheels! Sweet!

As for the tires, I have no complaints! Basically, I walked into the shop looking for two 25c tires that were easy on the wallet.
