650C ? Wasn't this frame up for sale a while back? What are the measurements, and how tall are you? What's your take on the smaller wheels?

Sorry about the crappy pics, I'll take better ones once I get my front wheel on there (the one I am using is borrowed from biseagal while they do some work to my level/cxp33 wheel). Anyways, here is Cyclops! The clearance on this thing is freaking ridiculous, its got a sloping top tube, and toe overlap on a 58cm frame. Is a beast. The only part I could replace with something stronger is the nitto alloy stem; I could replace it with a steel one, but other than that this thing is as bomb-proof as the bike industry could achieve. Columbus Zona tubing, hand made by Mike Mullholland in Ontario.

Very nice! I've been an admirer of his bikes for some time.

Yeah, I picked this bike up from gravityhurts back in decemberish. It's an odd one - much longer than it is tall, and technically too big for me, which is why it's running that stubby little stem with the Mary bars.

Seat tube c-c is ~53cm, top tube is ~59cm, and using the 650c wheels brings chainstays down to 38cm and wheelbase down to about 94cm. Unfortunately, I'm not the best guy to ask about the smaller wheel thing - the vast majority of bikes in the house are 26"/559, so I'm pretty used to them. When I stand on this bike it takes off like a rocketship, which is definitely nice. Handling is fairly quick, but the 3rensho seems to carve turns both tighter and smoother, if that makes any sense.

I dig it.

128 : re: the castro - yeah, I've always felt that Deep-Vs were a little bit 'alternative lifestyle', but hey, it's what the bike came with.

Oh man Shiznaz. What an amazing bike. I have a foward sloping top-tube fetish, but this takes the cake for me. I love.

Jim-Bob: Is there anyway you can link those pictures? I can't see them for some reason, and I want to.

Mostly because I already had it, and it was already the perfect length. Its been a little noisy so I may end up swapping it out for a KMC S10 stainless steel chain. This bike is super light, so I can afford a little heavy duty flare

You can find a fistful of holland pics at http://entirely-adequate.com/holland/ and some 3rensho pictures at http://entirely-adequate.com/3ren/ .

I need to emphasis how dangerous these chains are for fixies, and how awesome they are for BMX.

UNIDIRECTIONAL!!!!

curlybro 04-09-06 05:26 PM

I guess I don't often ride backwards circles, but how would a "unidirectional" chain be worse for fixies than other bikes? Honest question.

guerillaidiom 04-09-06 05:47 PM

skidding? chirping? any back pressure to slow down?

chicagoamdream 04-09-06 05:55 PM

Went up to Madison, WI this weekend, and took a couple shots of interest at Yellow Jersey:

Ill Nagasawa roadie, good for a conversion:

Note the yellow Nagasawa track frame, about 56cm...very nice.

Purple gold flake Nagasawa track frame (52ish):

3resnsho time trial frames:

And some NOS 3rensho toestraps that I had no need for but couldn't resist.

You still need to explain to us why this chain is dangerous on fixed gear road bikes.

You're ****ing kidding me about the conversion?

koyman 04-09-06 06:49 PM

I think that red nagasawa is the hurricane katrina bike.

It kills me to see beautiful road bikes turned into average singlespeeds/fixed gears

chicagoamdream 04-09-06 07:01 PM

I was kidding. I doubt it even has horizontal dropouts.

It's worst than that trend where people cuffed their jeans up really, really high.

Don't worry, nobody's going to buy a $2,500 Nagasawa and strip all of the Campy off with a screwdriver, no matter how much I ask.

I was quite taken with this Raleigh Professional conversion I saw while I was up there:

Of course, a Pro with its original Campy/Cinelli build would truly be a sight to behold, but you can't lament anything that keeps a 30-year-old frame out on the road.

evanyc 04-09-06 09:27 PM

man. i want that purple nagasawa

Some 3Rensho goodies spotted in Chiba.
And a picture that somewhat define "bike porn" :)
