dunno where you're shopping but steel nittos are generally around $150, so i'm pretty cool with paying $50 more for a locally built custom chromed stem with the exact drop i want (73 deg - which it's difficult to find anything close to in steel).

plus, this bike is being built up as all american or worker owned/small business as possible.

Sorry, bike shop employee here, so I think in cost prices.

Also, the most ridiculous conversion goes to the Cervelo up there. "Aero" seatpost and a Brooks saddle. Big what the **** factor there!

DerekRI 08-12-06 07:08 AM

Oh hell yes, Providence Rhode Island, represent!

What was the turnaround time, and also what is their current price frame/fork?

Sweet banana ride!

evanyc 08-12-06 08:42 AM

the turnaround time on this ended up being way longer than typical - about a year - but i think i general chris's wait is 6-7 months

A chromed steel Nitto Jaguar costs what, $150? $175? For the choice between 2 angles and 4 lengths? To me, the extra $25-50 to get any length or any angle you could possibly want seems like a steal, especially when you factor in the whole supporting small, domestic business thing.

EDIT: I should've read further and seen that Evanyc already made this point. Oops.

Me too!

That Ken Evans looks great - do you know if there is any connection between Ken Evans and Rossin? The two builders' bikes look really similar. Kiyo apprenticed with Rossin, and the logo is a tribute to his teacher, so I'm wondering if it's a similar thing with Ken Evans?

What kind of can is that? What did it run you?

All idiocy aside, though, that bike is sex. Very nice.

masterlink 08-12-06 09:27 PM

Did you photoshop the sparkles to give it a more bling effect? in any case, nice bike.
