No idea what the fork is (bought the frameset used). People often suggest Pinarello, but I have yet to see one that looks the same.

cc700 08-30-07 01:25 PM

that looks like a vertical dropout with an eccentric hub to me.

Believe it or not, those are regular old road drops- the frame is a TT frame actually. I majorly lucked out and found a magic gear(49x17) that worked for me. also, I kept the braze-ons so that I can easily convert it out for a TT setup whenever I want- this is a seriously fast ride!

ninjaman 08-30-07 01:28 PM

and no, the hub is not eccentric, just the seatpost

ninjaman 08-30-07 01:31 PM

I was thinking of suggesting to Dennis over at fixedgeargallery to have this year's contest be a "magic gear" contest. What do you guys think?

New Improved Pista...still a work in progress.

New wheelset, Chris Bling headset, tyres, Forte CF fork...

Kilgore_Trout 08-30-07 07:03 PM

the fork on the bk definitely looks like it came off a new pinarello - the only company to make forks (and seat stays) that ugly.

Gyeswho 08-30-07 07:30 PM

you dont need any of that just peel it off really slow and your good

bonechilling 08-30-07 07:41 PM

I posted this in the IRO build thread, so I figured I should share it here, too.

i'm kinda new here, but what's the main difference between a TT bike and a track bike geometry speaking (exept for 2 brakes and more gears)?

cool bike ninjaman... but your handlebar are so low!!!

Good lord... if you think that's low, get out now! Before your mind is poisoned!

TT bikes have aerobars.

Blais 08-30-07 09:14 PM

Unicycles only have one wheel.

Bonechilling: I actually like that a lot despite the leather seat and white bottle cage but that 's taste. Nice build.

ninjaman 08-30-07 09:18 PM

Actually, i think its more a case of having a frame with compact geometry, which makes the seatpost look much longer than it effectively is. As for the bars, they're not really that low...

just use some lotion if there's some residue.

freeskihp 08-30-07 10:08 PM

use a blowdryer to get those velocity stickers off

jgarcia186 08-31-07 01:35 AM

eww it looks like a touring keirin bike... no offense

cc700 08-31-07 02:08 AM

the non aero levers and chrome fork really give it that vintage look, right down to the leather grips and color. i think it's pretty nice.
