This is my beater, iro group buy frame, most of the parts taken form an old build, just drilled some drainage holes in the bb shell after I had to replace my old bb because of rust :(. It's also now my only ride until I get my new frame built up.

I just finished my IRO Angus. I'd been waiting on the wheels after my wheelset got banged up (my car was rear-ended with my bike on the back) for about a month and a half, but they just got built yesterday and I rode the completed bike in this morning. Here it is in front of a bunch of hard drives:
http://dailyabortion.com/pictures/angusatwork.jpg Pretty much standard parts: nitto stem, soma major taylor bars, thomson seatpost, brooks saddle, Chris King headset, formula hubs, velocity DV rims, dt spokes, 17T (15T on the flipside) Surly cog, Surly chaintug, KMC nickel-plated 1/8" chain, Sugino VP cranks, 46T rocket ring, shimano bottom bracket, MKS Sylvan pedals, and whatever straps. |

Is that silver bar tape?
Here's another pic that shows the light gray of the bike better: http://www.dailyabortion.com/picture...gusoutside.jpg Here's the drivetrain: http://www.dailyabortion.com/pictures/iroangusdrive.jpg Here's more detail on the bar tape: http://www.dailyabortion.com/pictures/iroangusbars.jpg And here's a pic of my bike's piercing: http://www.dailyabortion.com/picture...uspiercing.jpg That group buy bike above is slick! |
Get another light system, like the bullfrog or something bigger. The knog frogs weren't bright enough to save me from getting nailed. Go back a few pages to see why.
|
that sucks dude... looks like you got roughed up bad. were you hit head on or from the back? i have a very dim blinkie light and a cateye LED headlight, i will probably start using them both now. that's scary.

i worked for city express. i wouldn't typically recommend them. the runs are as far out as the schrafft center in charlestown to beacon st in the 1700's. you'll ride pretty far out for not great money. however, the folks that still mess there are really great, and if colin is your dispatcher, he'll take care of you, even if he'll never like you (he doesn't like anyone, but that's why i like him).
however, they will hire you with almost no questions asked. i worked part time easy enough while i was in school, but they'll want you for more hours than you'll probably want to give. you can also check out marathon. as far as entry level courier companies go, those are the two that are easiest to start with. i think most other places require experience or a good referral. good luck! Anyway, there I go digging up posts from awhile ago... lovely rides all-around... makes my old work-bike look like crap (just the way I like it). |
just to add a bit of verticality to yr lives...
this is my baby, teahall: http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...r/P3290041.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...r/IMG_1969.jpg old peugeot frame, look bars, oury grips, original caliper, velo plush seat, velocity hubs & rims, vittoria tires, 1/8 14t cog, don't know what's in front. i know i'm riding crap, except for the wheelset which is so-so, but teahall's just so *pretty*... i'm mostly new to the fixed gear obsession; building up a 2002 black iro mark v frame. i'm thinking of moving the wheels to the iro and putting crappier, wider wheels on the peugeot to make it my winter bike. i'm getting bullhorns coming in next week for the iro, and i already found a scott sportser saddle. any tips or ideas? mainly i think if i drop any serious money it'll be on the cranks, and i know not a thing about those.. thanks. |
you don't need to get crazy with cranks right away. sugino rd's have served me well and are affordable. anything that isn't absolute crap. i mean, you could get 75s or some campy or whatever. but if you're new to fixed, it doesn't hurt to start off with something legit and find out what you'd want in a crank, then drop some bills on something crazy cool.
really, just make sure you don't skimp on your drivetrain. cheapo parts on a fixed drivetrain equals bad days indeed. |

I wonder if anyone has noticed yet what your bike is leaning against. I bet that room is nice on a hot summer day. Server rooms can be chilly. May I ask how much storage space that is?

That green bike sure does look familiar!
