This is my beater, iro group buy frame, most of the parts taken form an old build, just drilled some drainage holes in the bb shell after I had to replace my old bb because of rust :(. It's also now my only ride until I get my new frame built up.

Get another light system, like the bullfrog or something bigger. The knog frogs weren't bright enough to save me from getting nailed. Go back a few pages to see why.

that sucks dude... looks like you got roughed up bad. were you hit head on or from the back? i have a very dim blinkie light and a cateye LED headlight, i will probably start using them both now. that's scary.

i worked for city express. i wouldn't typically recommend them. the runs are as far out as the schrafft center in charlestown to beacon st in the 1700's. you'll ride pretty far out for not great money. however, the folks that still mess there are really great, and if colin is your dispatcher, he'll take care of you, even if he'll never like you (he doesn't like anyone, but that's why i like him).

this is my baby, teahall: http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...r/P3290041.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...r/IMG_1969.jpg old peugeot frame, look bars, oury grips, original caliper, velo plush seat, velocity hubs & rims, vittoria tires, 1/8 14t cog, don't know what's in front. i know i'm riding crap, except for the wheelset which is so-so, but teahall's just so *pretty*... i'm mostly new to the fixed gear obsession; building up a 2002 black iro mark v frame. i'm thinking of moving the wheels to the iro and putting crappier, wider wheels on the peugeot to make it my winter bike. i'm getting bullhorns coming in next week for the iro, and i already found a scott sportser saddle. any tips or ideas? mainly i think if i drop any serious money it'll be on the cranks, and i know not a thing about those.. thanks. |
you don't need to get crazy with cranks right away. sugino rd's have served me well and are affordable. anything that isn't absolute crap. i mean, you could get 75s or some campy or whatever. but if you're new to fixed, it doesn't hurt to start off with something legit and find out what you'd want in a crank, then drop some bills on something crazy cool.
really, just make sure you don't skimp on your drivetrain. cheapo parts on a fixed drivetrain equals bad days indeed. |
