Naysayers said that about rock 'n roll, than about hip hop, skateboarding etc. And those things totally only lasted one year each.

getting closer, got my bars taped up today got my cranks on, and got a few other small things done.
my wheels will be done and my tires will be in on wenesday. I can't wait. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2118/...bf56fec4_o.jpg running a 70x 107 bb and a 40 tooth ring. i can't go any larger any front. on the inside of the spider there is about 4-5 mm of frame clearance. I am curious to see what my chain line is going to be once my wheels are built, and I am hoping i can use the outer lip of my cranks. I run bulletproof cranks with a 110bb and the inside chainring gives exactly a 42mm chainline.. Most double cranks have 5mm between inner/outer, but the bulletproof(and most bmx) cranks are 6mm between, FYI.. IMHO I'd try to get a diff BB if I were you.. a 103bb will get you fairly close if you want to use the outer(like 44mm chainline) |

Naysayers also said that about Soap Shoes, Razor Scooters and New Coke and they were right ... so we'll just have to wait and see. ;)

Got my second fixed gear conversion done yesterday.
Its a 1978 Gitane frame that I bought from my lbs and it rides very neat. The only thing left to do is to drill out the fork 1mm so that I can push down the stem some more. |

Ha, I saw a guy riding to class on a Razor scooter the other day. I started laughing, cause he was carrying a whole bunch of stuff, too, and he got off and walked by like, "What's funny?"

I do have to say, those things can be pretty fun. Specially if you are in a basement and doing drunken jousting with them. Or just tool around while doing laundry, my roomie bought an electric one off ebay for $5, and we would charge it up and when we were back from class, taking a break etc some times go down in the basement and see what tricks we could pull |

er... How did you pick that 107bb/crank combo? You are going to be running 40.5mm on the inner and 46.5mm on the outer..

there's a pretty high probability that the bottom bracket he bought was the shimano un53 or 73. if that's the case, the drive side of the spindle on the 107mm is the same as with the 110mm. for whatever reason, just the NDS is longer on the 110.

I like that idea. Bullhorns look stupid with a stem that far out, and no matter how far you dropped them down, it isn't like you're going to be riding the thing at six-day races. So why not go against the grain and sit upright? I think that bike would look classy-sassy if it had a different bar setup.
And nice stem on the Carleton, onetwentyeight. Probably makes poppin' wheelies easy. Thanks for the advice. |
