sounds like that describes ss/fg folks. instead of the money shot chainline pic we'll be seeing overstuffed panniers and stems tricked out with lights and computers and mobile phone holsters. its coming. the end of this forum is near. bail out now while you can.

Naysayers said that about rock 'n roll, than about hip hop, skateboarding etc. And those things totally only lasted one year each.

Naysayers also said that about Soap Shoes, Razor Scooters and New Coke and they were right ... so we'll just have to wait and see. ;)

running a 70x 107 bb and a 40 tooth ring. i can't go any larger any front. on the inside of the spider there is about 4-5 mm of frame clearance. I am curious to see what my chain line is going to be once my wheels are built, and I am hoping i can use the outer lip of my cranks.

er... How did you pick that 107bb/crank combo? You are going to be running 40.5mm on the inner and 46.5mm on the outer..

I run bulletproof cranks with a 110bb and the inside chainring gives exactly a 42mm chainline.. Most double cranks have 5mm between inner/outer, but the bulletproof(and most bmx) cranks are 6mm between, FYI.. IMHO I'd try to get a diff BB if I were you.. a 103bb will get you fairly close if you want to use the outer(like 44mm chainline)

Ha, I saw a guy riding to class on a Razor scooter the other day. I started laughing, cause he was carrying a whole bunch of stuff, too, and he got off and walked by like, "What's funny?"

Got my second fixed gear conversion done yesterday.
Its a 1978 Gitane frame that I bought from my lbs and it rides very neat.
The only thing left to do is to drill out the fork 1mm so that I can push down
the stem some more.

Because you're the REAL fixed gear rider.

well, where I live, there is a resurgence of those Razor things.. There is a park near me where you can see 4-5 kids on those scooters any day of the week(after school)..

^^

I do have to say, those things can be pretty fun.

Specially if you are in a basement and doing drunken jousting with them.
Or just tool around while doing laundry, my roomie bought an electric one off ebay for $5, and we would charge it up and when we were back from class, taking a break etc some times go down in the basement and see what tricks we could pull

you know, it's probably a much better idea to just sand down the stem. a threaded fork steerer really oughtn't have 1mm carved out of it. just sit down, watch barely legal 73, and jerk off the stem with some sandpaper for 1:30 and you'll be good to go. It's really a far better option than having your steerer tube fail. having to eat pureed peas because you have no teeth doesn't seem like much fun.

there's a pretty high probability that the bottom bracket he bought was the shimano un53 or 73. if that's the case, the drive side of the spindle on the 107mm is the same as with the 110mm. for whatever reason, just the NDS is longer on the 110.

There are loads of people that ride scooters bro, there are comps all over, in the US, Australia and Europe. There's a pretty big scene.

If that's the case, then he should be in good shape with either the 107mm or the 110mm.

My commuter/utility bike. Under all the tape is a Specialized Hardrock. No bling, all fun.

I like that idea. Bullhorns look stupid with a stem that far out, and no matter how far you dropped them down, it isn't like you're going to be riding the thing at six-day races. So why not go against the grain and sit upright? I think that bike would look classy-sassy if it had a different bar setup.

And nice stem on the Carleton, onetwentyeight. Probably makes poppin' wheelies easy.

Ya, thanks you guys. I might try the flipping the bars thing sometime if I get tired of the way it is, but I don't want to start messing with the brake cable again yet! For now I bought a new, shorter stem today - it's much better this way! I will post a new pic but I gotta get some more bar tape first! The other stuff ripped when I took it off to change the stems!
Thanks for the advice.
