OT: The spread thread

Complementing the bread thread, what do you like to spread on your favorite bread? Or dip your bread into?

Here's one of my favorites:

What do you like?

Stop and shop has a line of olive oils all from different regions and they are well priced. I usually try a different olive / region. Interesting how something as simple as olive oil can be vastly different.

I used to have a shallow terra cotta pot for roasting garlic in the oven. They'd get hot and sweet and carmelized and then you'd just smash them into your bread. That was heaven. I need to go find that! I hope we didn't throw it out.

Garlic rocks. I read an article about how to look like you are good in the kitchen. If you want people to say "wow that smells good" chop fresh garlic up and people will always say that no matter when you are cooking.

garlic is SO good, I should try that garlic roasting in a tera cotta thing sometime. Sounds stellar.

Depends on the bread. Cornbread, nothing. French bread, cut lengthwise into quarters then spread with fresh butter and apricot jam. If you have chocolate fondue lying around, try dipping the bread in it. Toasted rye, just plain butter.

Last night I made this and it rocked so easy to make too.

Bag of fresh spinach
Garlic
Olive oil.

Put it in a pan, cover cook for 5-6 minutes. Grates some parmesan, salt / pepper / lemon to taste. Instant iron in your diet. Win.

Homemade tapenade. I like to make it with a little bit more garlic than normal and add a touch of chili powder.

Also I enjoy cream cheese, or pesto, or both.

both! pesto cream cheese is a great spread for sandwhiches.

also, ***** on sandwhiches, or basically used as a spread/dip for anything.

guacamole. i make some ridiculous guacamole, but everyone seems to agree that while it's delicious, your mouth tastes godawful for part of the next day regardless of oral hygeine habits. it's worth it though. i'm pretty sure it's the high level of garlic that does it.

It's the original spelling of humus. You can imagine why it was changed..
