Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Being a poor country, I'd have to imagine it came from necessity to use everything and to get nutrients. I remember hearing in history class that toward the end of WWII, Russians were eating car axle grease (It was made from animal fat) and shoe leather.

This one just happens to be scrumptious. You should see the butchers expression when I ask for the pork fat trimmings.

jam.

red plum.

it would be really dumb to order jam online.

i miss it so, though.
F'ing Smuckers makes it.

Or make your own:

Ingredients:
3 Pounds Red Plums
4 cups sugar

Directions:
Wash and pit 3 pounds of red plums, place in bowl of food processor and chop coarsley. Measure 5 cups plums. Add the sugar and allow to stand for one hour. Boil hard, uncovered until syrup sheets off a metal spoon, about 8 minutes. Remove from heat; skim off foam. Pour at once into hot sterilzed jars; seal. Makes 5 half pints.

+1 Some people have far more serious nutritional problems than worrying about the detrimental effects of putting lard on your bread. Go tell some starving malnourished East African that lard is bad for you. I've seen someone do this.....they look at you like you are a complete idiot.

It's not me being a food snob. Ill eat bad **** too. It's the fact most americans indulge in it to extreme degrees because they think its healthy for them.

Hell to the yes! Although I'm a ravioli guy myself. Actually, just ravioli on bread is good.

I am a founding member of A.M.C. (Anti Mayo Coalition)

Seriously who the f thought "hey lets put eggs and vinegar out in the sun then eat it!" I wish the inventor of mayo was never born.

well, actually, it's just transliteration of it that reflected the original arabic pronunciation (as closely as english could, i suppose), but it's not the original spelling as that involves a completely different alphabet.
