Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olive_oil
and for good measure
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hummus
"Hummus (also variously spelled hamos, houmous, hommos, hommus, hummos, hummous or humus)...
...
The origins of hummus are unknown. It is one of the oldest known prepared foods and has been used in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine for thousands of years. Plato and Socrates both noted the nourishing benefits of hummus (hommos in Greek), which has been a part of Greek culture at least since classical times. An ancient Egyptian recipe calls for wine vinegar instead of lemon juice, which did not arrive in the Middle East until about the 8th century CE."

Oh and hell yes to the apple butter, Nutella is the **** as well.

I'm Czech and we eat sadlo. It's boiled pig fat that you then cool. Makes a delicious spread.

I think I had something like that in Austria. I thought it was bacon-infused cheese. I asked our host what it was and he said, "I am not sure what the word in English is..... I believe it is called lard."

Sounds weird to Americans but it was DELICIOUS. And is it really any weirder than churned and salted milkfat?

I'm glad we don't have half of those spreads here in the states. Those combined with our ability to completely disregard moderation would equal.... oh wait.. never mind. Already happened.

at least there's no way you can have illusions about how healthful the food you're eating is when you're putting straight up lard on your bread.
