Thing is, it seems that most of the guys I know who were almost exclusively fixed-gear riders are nowadays roadies or 'crossers.
If you stick with cycling long enough, you'll find your way to a geared bike sooner or later.

One should have multiple bikes.
I commute on a fixed gear, ride off road on a geared MTB (and commute in the snow on it), and ride centuries \ group rides\ organized rides on a CF racing bike.
All are fun in different ways.

After reading this I immediately recalled the "post your ink" thread where that girl was posted with gaffers tape over her nipples. I feel cheated as a man, i think diq pix should be ok if you cover the end with black tape!

Do you guys ever notice that the OP never really replies to these boastful threads he starts (I can count 2 just this week on the same "I am better than roadies" topic).
Perhaps he/she is just doing it to get a rise out of people.
But to the OP, and to feed the troll, 23mph is not fast, that is what most well trained roadies cruise at.

I was riding tonight and this guys rolls up on me from behind on a cervelo road bike. Meanwhile I was on my beater with fenders, bag, lock, heavy *** bike rolling 65 gear inches. He starts to pull ahead of me so I'm like OK i'll stick with him. I'm riding for 8 mins with this guy, when he finally gets tired ( we were spinning almost the same gear ) and starts slacking off. I guess he bonked. So I nod at him and pass. He stares blankly at me, no sign of emotion.
30 seconds later same guy blasts by on the big chain ring. I put on the pressure and match his pace as i'm spinning 125rpm at 23mph, the guy must have been like holy ****? this kid on a fixie is killin it without gears. finally i whoop him on the big hill out here and once he reaches the top switches it to his biggest gear so he could smoke me down the descent.
yeah some guys need to work on their cadence and consistency.

Step 2. Get your soul crushed by all the weak ******* on geared bikes.
Step 3. Reread your post.
Step 4. Kick your self in the nuts.
Step 5. Repeat step 4.
Step 6. Repeat step 5.

i dont race on geared bikes. you must have missed the title.
why?
fixed gear/ss eliminates any advantage in gears, weight, components and more that rules competitive geared bike races.
it is the true test of cycling skill and ability. if you cant hang with me on my fixed gear in 65 GI it is plainly seen that you are a weak rider. what sad is most of these people around here are just that. talent before $$ son..

Give it a try. Nothing brings people crashing back to reality like reality.

If ppl truely can't keep up with you with that gear ratio, I guess they are pretty slow. But remember, you are not going all that fast either.
One last note: Last I checked, most FG riders ride on the road, which makes us roadies too. If you are a FG MTB rider, I bow down to you.

The hipster and the roadie, just like the farmer and the cowman, should be friends.
