In my mind a dink is a tiny little penis. Much like a mushroom in the grass. I like to think that I have an extensive knowledge on racial insults and I have never once heard dink to mean anything but a tiny little penis. BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH!

My being Chinese and having been the target such words, the use of the term in Hammye's particular context caused me to think that it was used with its derogatory meaning. I'll assume that you meant the driver was a "nitwit" or "moron" (which many drivers are, including many Asian ones ).

I can give Hammye the benefit of the doubt that he didn't know of the other meanings. Perhaps we all can. Now we're all a bit more knowledgeable.

Take care, and mind the nitwit drivers out there.

I'm racist, I hate everyone especially those that think they are better than others. Names don't hurt anyone unless they let themselves be hurt by them. This world has too many things wrong with it to let the small things get to us. Am I really racist? No, but as a minority member I know that it's a sure bet that most have at one point or another made some kind of racial remark towards us. Do I care? NO, I'm happy with who I am so I don't let it bother me. I don't need others to protect me, I'm fine without you and always will be!

This gets funnier by the minute. Hammye, get a clue. BlastRadius was trying to be gracious (Post #68). Because of his personal experience, he was initially offended. He was also being a stand-up guy by trying to put an end to this silliness. Why not reciprocate and let it go. Don't want to apologize, fine. Whatever floats your boat. But he's giving you the benefit of the doubt. Why not show some love in return.

and at what point have I not stuck with everything I have said? Have I said at all that I was wrong or that I had any knowledge that dink was a racial insult to people of Veitmanese origin?

Well...I am sorry but why do people think he is racist. Dink to me is a derogatory term refering to a penis or penis head. This is the first time I have ever seen it in reference to race. I will probably never use it again, but is that seriously any reason to jump all over this guy? ( I know you guys think it will be)

So now your dragging animals into it? I happen to love animals and I find your derogatory use of them offensive.

Do you see how this goes? just stop, and leave the guy alone.

Maybe I'm reading this thread differently, but if you look beyond Willie for a minute, you will see that somebody was truly offended by the term. It really isn't about racism. I think most of us upon realizing that we had offended somebody would have apologized, appreciated that our words may be interpreted in unintended ways and moved on. I think Hammye is being a bit silly. Reach out to BlastRadius, tell him he didn't mean to offend him and its over. Instead we get page after page of petulence and 'blah, blah, blah...' Enough.

So if I am talking about welding a frame some day and I say "hold up a sec I have to put this thing in the jig". Do I need to say I am sorry to any minority group that may be offended? Holy **** can you imagine all the apologies flying around at a place like Independent Fab?

Just one person. Not talking generalities here. You offended one person. Acknowledge that and move on. He reached out, why not reciprocate?
