My hope, love, passion, pride, patriotism, and optimism have been renewed!
Whatever is in store for America, sign me up. Go Obama!
Also, great speeches tonight from both of the former candidates and with the exception of the phoenix crowd, very well done to all.
The time has come to grow together and build a world for everyone. America has renewed my hopes and dispelled my fears.
And yes, I cried tears of joy tonight.

Yes, I know, but it was still a very classless thing to do and, even though McCain asked them to stop, it is very telling of the type of supporters this man had.
Compare it to the words that Obama used in thanking McCain; people clapped and cheered, there was not one "boo" to be heard....
I just received a very gracious call from Senator McCain. He fought long and hard in this campaign, and hes fought even longer and harder for the country he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine, and we are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader. I congratulate him and Governor Palin for all they have achieved, and I look forward to working with them to renew this nations promise in the months ahead

went out for dinner last night and made sure to have several drinks just in case. got home and thirty minutes later mccain was giving his concession speach. stayed up to hear obama's victory speech and passed out smiling. this is the first time as an adult that i've been proud to be an american!

i feel that a lot of america voted with their hearts yesterday instead of their minds. now i don't care if it was for McCain or for Obama. I did not vote for either. i believe that we had a lot of ignorant people voting on the basis of race, "change", and looks. I feel that the next 4 years will be the true test that race is no longer an issue.

I hope so too. The problem with that last part is that this was the most racial vote ever. Black people decided that since Obama is black, they can finally vote . I am sure there were millions of heavily racist (black to white racism, not the kind we are allowed to talk about) votes that happened. Just the same the other way.
I need to stop taking so many african american studies classes.
And race will always be an issue in American society.

They booed because they lost and were upset. Obama's crowd didn't boo because they were overjoyed.
Please just stop the constant sniping. It's the Dem's turn now, and I'm going to do my best to be the loyal opposition rather than an undermining agitator.

By definition blacks can't be racist. Racism implies that the prejudice being handed down comes with a position of higher status in the society. Racism is more than just prejudice against someone based on race, it's the entire system.

With a black president in office it will be kind of hard to say that whites have a "higher status" anymore.
A higher status by what measure? There are plenty of black people who make more money than a lot of white people. Racial discrimination is no longer condoned or institutionalized by society, making it a personal matter between people. Equal people.

That is a BS cop out. Typical of ivory tower pontification. Power comes in many forms, and you can be sure that a white man at the mercy of an armed black man who hates white people is a potential victim of racism.

America wanted change and they came out in record numbers for it. Show us what you can do Obama. You're going to have a lot of pissed of people if you can't walk the walk.
PS: to the lady who was so proud of Obama, because now that he's going to be her president she won't have to worry about paying her gas or her mortgage... Wake up!

So much for healing the divide. Let's just keep on hating.
