Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Because the T1 is a track bike, and has no bottle bosses... so I mounted it to the saddle rails.

Surely you'd know that... since you bought one?

This is a great question I had never thought of before. Anyone have any experience with the issue? I live in Portland, OR and we have a break law too.

I imagine when a new brake law is ready to be enforced all officers are familiarized with the brake requirements. And they don't have a lot to learn. Try that "it's a coaster brake" thing on the wrong cop and your chances of being let off with a warning will go from slim to zilch fast.

for riding around in circles in funny clothes

@mucky...that street gearing is ridiculous, why? other than the obvious answer that you can... it's rare that i, and most racers, run that high as a default, what is that 54:14/13....like 100+ GI? my go to track gearing runs usually ~90 GI and i wouldn't even think to push that on a daily. that's a bigger issue than your weird lever position =]

try out the setup if you're curious because theres no way i can explain and prove to you that it works just by telling you~
How does that brake work when you are descending at 70 kmh and spinning at 190 rpm ?

Lower your gearing and learn to spin and you'll be able to ride faster than 20mph...

Thats a wide lense. Cut your steering tube! Also how does the charge saddle feel?

davis is flat (no hills, sure ill lower if and when i move). spinning no more than 151rpm. go no faster than 40mph ever. brake still works well at 40mph.
i'm surprised even you're butting in on this. like i said, i cant convince you that it works, you'll have to run the setup and your doubts will be disproved.
my poseur knees are fine tho~ (maybe because its flat)

Haha, it's about 6 or 7 shots stitched together in photoshop. I plan on taking it to a shop to get the tube cut either this weekend or next week; I've been busy moving and haven't had the time.

The charge seat is quite comfy, I never used the stock seat so I can't really compare it to anything, but it's comfy enough that my butt doesn't hurt after longer rides.

Here we go, first time posting my bike. I know some of you all won't dig the colors... but I think they're silly and fun.

My Schwinn World Sport conversion.
Chain is a little slack... but working on that. Some world sports had kind of odd rear dropouts where the slot wasn't cut back very far on the drive side. I think that's been discussed here though. black seatpost and bars because I'm thinking about/in the process of upgrading componants and going for all black. New saddle coming in the mail too; the $5 knockoff is starting to be a pain in my a$$.

Introducing the SS Bumblebee:

I liked my fixie so much I converted my Walmart GMC Denali road bike to single speed. I still have to convert the triple chainring to a single ring, but they are rivetted so that will take some work. The gearing is 48/14 but I could do 48/16 with a half link. I needed to convert the vertical dropout to a vertical/horizontal dropout using my patented zero-dollar sweat equity procedure to get the chain tension right.

I also need to grind off the derailleur hanger and the shift cable guides. No going back.

Don't get it. It will only take me a few minutes to grind it with my angle grinder with the result being it won't look like a conversion.

I, for one, wholly support this venture, and expect this undertaking to be accompanied by numerous pictures of bike before/during/after procedure. I also advise consuming large amounts of grain alcohol throughout the process.

Figured I'd post these up before I sell them (or at least one) off. I need to make some room in the stable, but I'm not sure which I should sell.

Obviously the Windsor has a chain and chainring bolts now. I may keep the record headset and Alfredo Binda's if I sell it.
~'86 Windsor Super Carrera
Campy Triomphe crank /42
Campy GS pedals
Record Seatpost
Gold Ano Ale clips
3TTT stem
Velocity Deep V's to Formulas /16

Cannondale R3000si (light!)
Would probably keep the Thompson and pedals here, and possible the Turbo Lite saddle.
Sugino 75 crank /42
Deda Pista drops/ strong V grips
dp18's to formula's
Record Headset

I like the Windsor because it's unique and attractive, but the Cannondale is so damn light and agile. It also has a dent in the downtube.
