Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? what does 'emo' mean in relation to bikes?

frame looks balls, but seems overpriced. Nobody with 700 to spend on a steel frame is going to buy a leader.

Yes, I'm sure that's exactly what frame builders everywhere think about when designing top-notch frames: Is this emo, goth, or punk??
you must have not been involved in cycling for very long if you think that aesthetics do not change over the years. the over-anodized neon mountain bikes of the mid 90s certainly are not in fashion anymore because a majority of atb riders prefer a different style these days.

the all-white matchy-matchy fixed gear is certainly played out. and aesthetics play a major role in cycling - much more than you're willing to admit.

and do you really think this frame is "top-notch"?

edit after reading this haha that the price would go with the quality of the tubing.
there are many grades of reynolds tubing. I find it very odd that leader, after months, still cannot say or decal the frame with what kind of tubing is used. seems fishy to me.

because apparently I didnt realize this was an circle-jerk with pedalingatx in the middle and not a "let's discuss this topic" kinda place where actual opinions are allowed.

this thread is lame

Geordi-sure aesthetics are important to bikes, but they have nothing to do w/ the aesthetics of stupid subcultures like emo, goth, punk, w/e. Also, saying something is "played out" only matters if you are comparing your bikes to other bikes. A pretty bike is a pretty bike is a pretty bike no matter how many people have a similar one

HappyRobot- not to take it off topic, but why is the sky blue? WTF. Another worthless post...

sure they do.

fashion trends at large do penetrate the cycling world.

what is "pretty" is in the eyes of the beholder. some people will absolutely love and drool all over your bike. the rest of us think it's an emo ghostbike ridden by someone of the myspace generation that craves shallow attention from strangers.

Atx is the coolest member on here. Quit picking on him. He's got a girlfriend. He even used her account in another thread to post. Lucky.
I asked how old you were, because you seem really immature.
It was just a question, not a useless post.
I like how you called a thread lame.......after you started it.

after people start asking for a/s/l and talking about emo stuff, the thread turned lame. I created a monster!!!

And it was a useless post. In fact, judging my maturity level from a computer screen is a useless endeavor. I don't know why you have it out for me, just because I made fun of your scrambler in another thread. I think you need to chill out a little bit, though.

And yes, I am the coolest member on BF, but you have no way of knowing that!

Man, if I cared what people thought of my bike, I wouldn't have put pink **** on it to begin with.
Being a 6'2" 240lb heavily tattooed guy wearing a pink castelli cap on a pink and black bike aint exactly makin me a whole lot of friends. I really don't care what you make fun of.
And I don't have a computer screen.
Can't afford internet since my wife lost her job, so I gotta use my crackberry.
And I totally don't have it out for you.
I'm a mere 3hrs away from austin.
I'd be down for a ride sometime soon.

Why is it that when some companies say "Stainless Lugs", they don't include a stainless lugged bottom bracket shell?

Stainless steel lugs are beautiful, but the bike would look a lot more finished if the lugged BB shell was stainless as well.

no this is really jeanatx.

we haven't done crit mass either. it just seems... slow? the real reason, though, is that we don't get around to it. fridays we're both off work late and pooped.

We got a beautiful coppi road frame in the shop the other day for repair. Only the headtube lugs were polished.
Pretty weird, but badass just the same.

Wow Leader is wack. Make one of the few FG/SS frames out there that has enough room for fenders and big tires, but then don't drill anything for brakes or fender. Way to go there..
