I think it's very easy to get caught up in the helmet fashion show, but if you really think about it, the helmet's aesthetics should be the least priority on the list.

Why?

1- the helmet is atop your dome while riding and out of site of your eyes unless you pass a mirror
2- you'll be in motion so even though ppl may laugh at you for wearing an ugly helmet that makes you look "stupid", you'll be out of earshot in a few seconds and can continue on your ride
3- a comfortable helmet (good fit and well ventilated for the summer) is more important than how pretty your helmet looks
4- it's not a haircut, so all you have to do is take it off once you get off your bike
5- you usually pay more $ for the better looking helmets
6- you usually can find decent deals on helmets that look ugly since no one wants to look like a fool with it, that includes ugly colors as well

I just got a Catlike Kompact Pro for under $150 shipped from velodromeshop.org.uk. It's comfortable as hell, and that was the lowest price I could find.

Bell Array
I love it, lots of vents, it's light and looks neat and fast.

I also like Gyeswho's post

I have a specialized echelon and I love it. It was only like 60 bucks and is supper comfortable, and looks good too. I just wore it on a 110 mile fixed ride, didn't even notice it was there.

I got one of these too. The zip-mold model. Definitely an improvement on the Pro-tec. Very well constructed and I like the visor. I don't find it too warm and I live in the tropics.

I've always liked the Bell Metro helmet.

It has sufficient ventilation holes, but they don't get trick and swoopy.

After one takes off the removable visor, a helmet can't get any plainer and functional than the Bell Metro.

I read an article which purported that riders with white helmets have fewer accidents due to the visibility of a white helmet.

And...it comes in white...fits wide heads...and it doesn't cost a lot ($35 at Nashbar).

+1 Bell Metro.

Nice and plain looking, adequate vents, has the most useful features for seasons and conditions etc, some good safe colors like white for night or orange for day.

Best shape for taking a roll, less likely to snap your neck.

Too bad no longer made but still available from certain dealers as are the accessories.

I didn't know Bell had discontinued the Metro.

Visiting Bell's site, it looks like the Citi might have replaced the Metro.

Unhappily, Bell doesn't make the Citi in white, although Bell does make it in Safety Orange and Safety Yellow.

I'd like plain ol' white.

I also wonder if the Citi has the same wide fit as the Metro.

Really? I find mine quite warm (I have the one without the visor). I still ride with it because it's my only helmet, but w/e its no big deal.

I find the Brentwood quite breezy, never had any problems overheating or anything. Of course, the only other time I wear a helmet is during deployment training/combat training in the military, and compared to Kevlar helmets anything feels well ventilated.

I was a Specialized Echelon but can't find it anywhere. (though havent really looked) They're pretty neat since they are almost identical to the S-Works helmets worn in the pro pelotons.

Wow, that makes three of us. I got mine at Sierra trading post for only $42 shipped. When I ordered it I thought the visor would look awesome, but when I tried it on, it actually partially blocks my view when I bike, so I took it off and guess what? It even looks better, IMO.
