Did you get the free Chrome shoes?

Do your clips help you at all without the straps?

they could be half clips, which i have on my road bike....

antiaverage 04-23-10 03:55 PM

They're not.

http://wiihacks.pbworks.com/f/clips.jpg

So I'm asking him if they help him. The clip in that case is designed to hold the straps up for you to get your foot into them. The straps are the working part that allow you to maximize your upward force on the pedal.

Making personal attacks about someone's choice of hair style or asking whether they got the free shoes to make them relevant to the thread is unnecessary and cruel. Making sure someone is using equipment properly is helpful.

;)

illdthedj 04-23-10 03:56 PM

i see. THEN FLAME AWAY GOOD SIRS!

antiaverage 04-23-10 04:00 PM

BTW, how do you feel about your half cups? I've always felt like all they did was help keep your foot on the pedal, but didn't offer much in the way of force transfer. That said, I've never used them, so reserve my feelings until I actually try some. What do you think?

illdthedj 04-23-10 04:04 PM

well, they certainly apply more upforce than just a pedal on it own...
prob not as much as normal ciips/straps....
best ive experienced tho, just feel wise, are holdstraps. im definitely a fan of those, just got them in earlier this week and enjoy them mucho.

half clips are way easy to get in and out of tho which is nice for lots of intersections and u cant trackstand

Hah, no worries, I'll take that as a yes.

Yeah, Holdfast are fantastic for riding around the city.

Scrodzilla 04-23-10 04:12 PM

Well, well...birds of a feather flock together.

Yo! 04-23-10 06:27 PM

I just pooped on the floor laughing

rustybrown 04-23-10 07:30 PM

Got mine...and yep, they're wicked huge.

Though, the laces are long enough to be wrapped around the foot and strung through a pedal.

You missed the part where someone doctored my photo and says: Dude You look Ridiculous.

We ain't flaming. Just fun. Old Men on race bikes are ridiculous.

Scrodzilla 04-23-10 08:39 PM

Especially when running plastic clips sans straps.

LoRoK 04-24-10 02:18 AM

I would just like to point out, for the record, that I was the first person to point out the plastic clip sans strap action. Me. First.

gotmyusernamechanged 04-24-10 11:51 AM

I road 16 miles round trip on Friday to lift weights in the Kursk shoes. Used clipless peddles
http://www.ems.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3661449
The shoes felt pretty good with the peddles as long as I was riding level ground. Too much pressure point when climbing though. The shoes are fantastic for lifting weights. If the Kursk hold for the next several months, I may have to ask for a set of Midway Chrome shoes for Christmas as my primary weight lifting shoes and cycling shoes for going to the gym. The Kursk would then become my utility riding shoes.

On Saturday, I did an 8 mile ride one way on clipless with outer cage
http://www.amazon.com/Shimano-Cliple.../dp/B0000C83Y4
This time the Kursk were comfortable even during climbing. I keep the shoes on while teaching an 8 hour class (mostly standing the entire time) as well as the organization group breakfast, dinner and keynote speaker. About 13 hours total.

Sunday, 16 mile round trip on clipless with outer cage and 7 hours of teaching class.

The Kursk remained comfortable even during the long 2 days of class and dinner plus.

I really like these shoes and hope they hold up for a very long time.
