Wow, that's really crazy... I am buying metal clips today or tomorrow, and was going to ask about size as well, I'm a 10.5 - looks like I'm getting large.

I'm about a size 14 US (48 Euro) and I use large clips. I should really be an extra large, but that size would be long enough to catch my front tire (the large has 0.5mm of clearance). I realize it's not really a big problem, but if you don't want to have to worry about your clips unexpectedly catching your front tire in a turn, you should make sure the clips you're getting aren't too big for your bike.

If you are riding fixed, I'd go with the smallest you can find. I had large but I kept hitting my foot with the front tire. This can be a huge problem. I don't really know that the size of your foot has much to do with it.

Bah, toe overlap's fine, it means your geometry is goodntight. As long as it isn't too extreme, you just learn to work around it. You learn proper track stands with the wheel turned the same direction as the foot you put forward. Apart from that, the only time that I have any problems is under low speed cornering.
Of course I only have a few inches of overlap.

Well, it only makes it improper if it's a problem for you, but overlap is very common on track frames. In that case, if you turn toward the backwards foot (i.e., your right is to the back with your left to the front and you turn the bars to the right), you're probably going to run the wheel into your foot or end up stepping on the back of the tire. Neither is particularly conducive to a good stand.
