I found a sweet deal for thomson seat post but i need your help!

So the seat post is 27.2, 410mm long.

Thats close to 15-16 inches if im correct, Should i not care about how long it is?

Or should i cut it?

Im thinking of just leaving it at 410...

My other question is, The 410mm, is that mesured from where the clamp is or from where the seat post starts?

If i do cut it? how should i? (probally wont cut it, not crazy. Sweet deal of 100 grams? pssft)

I too found a good deal on a 410mm Thomson seatpost! Haha, I got mine for $40.

But I didn't cut mine, doesn't really hurt to leave it.. But if you're a weight weenie you might want to cut it, lol.

Cut it! An inch from where it says thomson would be more than good enough.

I wouldn't cut it.... it would kill resale value and your minimum insertion would be a mystery....

I dont think i'll cut it, I'll baby it the way in. And baby it the way out so i can resale it for 40 dollars or something to someone.

The seatpost only weights 287 grams. Thats lighter them what i have

Occasionally on eBay you'll see mere stubs of Thomson posts from people using them on freestyle trick bikes and stuff. Why would anyone pay $60 for a beat up 2" long Thomson, I don't know.

The only reasonable thing to do is sell your bike and get one with a small enough frame that you can put the seatpost in at the minimum insertion point. Otherwise that extra post is just dead weight. The other bonus is that the small frame will be lighter. You might have to get a super tall stem with a lot of reach to give you a good riding position.
