I think that Jacobsever may be on to something. I think it looks awesome! No negative handling that I noticed. Just a little bit lower positioning. I do like to run a front brake so that is a problem for me but a lot of you don't. Biggest issue is that it lowered my bottom bracket by a little more than a half inch. Since my bike is really a converted road frame I don't think it'll work for me.

Made some changes recently

changed the stem for a longer one which has made the handling alot better, and its nice to not have my knees so close to the bars.

Front brakelever I'm not all that happy with, its just what was laying around, I expecially don't like the lever. Will put an old centre pull brake up front and find an original style lever for it. will also use a flush allen nut on the brake rather than the nut and extra thread that's sticking out now.

want to cut off - pump pegs, front and rear fender eyelets, the eyelet for the old 3 speed shifter pully and trim the excess on the seatpost nose.
The chain wants to be a couple of links longer.

also thinking about swapping the peddles out for some old rat trap style ones, with cages and white leather straps

anything I have missed? most people just ask when I'm going to paint it, its made from gas pipe so at least the rust pitting isn't much of a problem

I've never seen that kind of seatpost before. It looks almost like an adjustable stem

I think it was mainly older track bikes that had super slack seat tube angles. That's the only time I've seen that type of seatpost but I'm most likely wrong.

Nope it wasn't a vintage track thing. It was more general.

If any of you guys want to delve more into this specific type of seatpost, C&V is more than happy to answer.

I love how rusted and old that bike looks (because it is)...the white tires tho, not my favorite, at least not in that photo.

The tyres on there, though the photo is a bit washed out, have a cream tread and white sides. They are panaracers and were the most awful things I have ever struggled to lever onto a rim.
I was thinking of trying some gum walls next, maybe some with the darker sidewalls to go with the rust

What is completely JA is even thinking about butchering a 60+ yr old survivor frame by cutting things off no matter being gaspipe or how rough it may be

BTW - the seattube angle is slack because it was likely an upright-sitting "Gent's" or "Roadster" style model...

Take a photo with a less busy background, maybe in the shade so we can see the color of the tires. Those actually sound like they would go well with the frame, that photo just washes them out too much.

Its well too far to save or restore. no one is going to miss this frame, it was going to be tin cans until I grabbed it. Iv had a few old English bikes that I have restored anyway. If you were going through the work of restoring this one, brazing a couple of eyelets back on wouldn't be much of a job compared to the rust pitting.

its a rudge sports, that would have looked something like this

but I believe the drop bars were original for this one

I feel absolutely no difference in the handling. It all feels the same to me.
So why overcomplicate it and choose to run a 650 on the front, requiring more tubes/spokes/tires if it makes no difference?

ok, heres the latest

removed pump pegs, front guard mounts and pully mount. New longer chain. didn't like the other brake so still the same one on there for now.
Didn't take the eyelets off the rear dropouts because I'm going to torch them off and convert it to track ends (mostly for a bit of practice)

Rims, tires, and toeclips/straps are throwing it off for me. The last one particularly -- steel and leather or bust.

Looking for some feedback on this bike:

Context: Super super budget. Built from a $20 82 Schwinn World Sport frame from craigslist and scavenging local bike co-ops and Amazon for cheap parts.

Looking for some (very) cheap ways to improve it. Thoughts?

Put a non-crappy seatpost on it and black bar tape and you're golden.

Hate my ride

Please post mean and hateful things about my bike. Basically, tell me why my bike is ugly/lame. Please keep your compliments to yourself. Feel free to add your own bike to be hated upon. Let the hate surge from within you.

your ride is a little *****. It was born after its mother and father ****ed in a ditch using a tin can for a condom. It has a low IQ, sleeps around, has AIDS and is generally a terrible person...i mean bike.

Toe straps are installed upside down and tire logos don't line up with valve stems.

Also the front wheel spokes were laced wrong barely giving enough space for acces to the the valve. What an idiot. Ooops self hating there.
