I wish the chainring were black. I don't like the bar wrap. Lose the Chrome sticker.

Yea I'm going to go back to white bar tape whenever the cinelli stuff wears out. It's rubbery and nice at the moment if ugly and poorly wrapped.

Stickers are one of those things....If you don't have any you want them if you got em they annoy you. Chrome makes such high quality product I just cannot hate upon them even if tons of posers rock there stuff.

Threadless converter and that chainring has been one of the ugliest in existence since it's creation, but what you gonna do?

bar tape is hideous
crank is hideous
bottle cage should be of the stainless variety

I'm definitely on the look out for a good positive rise quil stem and a matching crank for the Dura Ace parts. What if I have to get a Technomic stem? So dorky

This Nitto HiRiser 25.4, 1" quill stem - 16251 would look rad, but 25.4. Ugh.

That would be perfect. I have the same one but without all that rise, it's a very nice stem and I'd go for another. Used, of course, because
I'm cheap.

I tried to correct the slope through Imgur. How is it now?

I'd recommend the delta inox cages - can be found on amazon. I had two on my surly cross check, looked great. they fit the feel of an older road frame well.

yours doesn't even look like its got mounts for water bottle cages. I have the Tacx behind the saddle mount that is much cheaper and low profile than those huge ugly profile design ones that cost like $80. I have 2 cages attached to it (also delta inox cages lol)

Nice. I thought only Velo Orange sold cages like that, but theirs are too expensive for my taste.

To the question, "What is the perfect bike?" the only correct answer is "It depends."

It depends on who's going to ride it, where he lives, his size, his fitness level, and many other things. Mainly, it depends on what kind of riding he wants to do.

For me at this time, my Surly Steamroller is about as close to perfect as can be. I've worked hard at getting it dialed in "just so." This included recent changes to the crank, bar and stem, tires, and some other little things.

I'm very happy with this bike, but I'm curious how others might see it now. Please take a look and tell me with brutal honesty what, if anything, you dislike:

Needs a black front brake caliper, also a rear brake would give it a more balanced and symmetrical look. But the biggest faux pax is you posted a porn-worthy bike like that in a thread like this.

It's a "basic" looking bike, which I dig, so the bottle cage is too techy aero modernish. Needs one of these.

Also, carbon spacer is for race bike, not a basic workhorse bike. Doesn't match, stands out.

That is a valid point. I recently bought this bottle cage, the first of its kind I've tried. I'm on the fence about it--I thought it looked cool, but in use, I don't love it. Still deciding whether to keep it or try a different one. Thanks for the suggestion/link!

Yeah. When I bought the bike, it had a stack of thick aluminum spacers. I thought they looked kind of awkward and clunky, so I made the carbon one to replace them. A racer-boi would *maybe* benefit from the 5 or 10 grams of weight savings, but here... let's face it, they named the model "Steamroller" for a reason.

You are too kind. Believe me, if I posted closeups of every part of the bike, you'd see that it does not belong in the p0rn thread.

The same as any other cage, from the top. This design looks upside down, but it works.
