I've bought stuff from Niagra - both directly and through their Amazon store - and while their prices are decent, I also found them a little too slow as far as shipping is concerned. It shouldn't take over a week for something to ship from NY to MA.

I live right by the Universalcycles.com Portland warehouse, and I stop in from time to time... I have to say their customer service is off, they check their own website to see whether or not a product is in stock, or the price of items (which can be quite annoying at times) But they do have a big selection, and its very convenient to shop online.

Haven't had anything shipped though, so I can't add review about it.

A lot of companies do this, actually, because it prevents them from having separate inventory tracking software. I can see how it looks a little weird to a customer, though.

Have had exceptional experiences with the Brits: chainreactioncycles.com and Wiggle

I've also had good experience with Speedgoat, who also has an instant price match feature & pretty good sales at times.

Has anyone here dealt with www.CycleChoice.com? They seem to be a replica site of www.CityGrounds.com and carries literally every item / size that City Grounds has in stock but with slightly cheaper prices. Is CycleChoice a reliable dealer? Thanks.

P.S. - City Grounds is also a superb online / retail dealer. They carry exclusively fixed gear components.

I've done a lot of online shopping with Universal Cycles, and have been very happy with their service. They will ship from multiple warehouses without charge to speed up delivery, and provide excellent tracking. Their prices are unbeatable on certain brands and items such as Panaracer tires, and they often have hard to find sizes of items such as 27" tires. Also, they are an excellent place to buy complete bikes, as they do an excellent assembly and adjustment of the bikes prior to shipment, such that the buyer can simply mount the bars and wheels with ordinary tools and the bike is ready to ride. After assembly, they remove the wheels, bars and seatpost / saddle only, and package for shipment in an oversize box with copious packing material to prevent cosmetic damage. I bought a Salsa Casseroll from them, and the only "problems" I had were that the rear wheel was a bit out of round and the brake calipers were adjusted too tight. The chain was already cut to the proper length and had a quick link so no tools were required for its installation. It took me less than 30 minutes to unpack and get the bike ready to ride, unlike my bd bikes, which took several hours.

voler.com Quality cycling wear. They'll customize. Outstanding customer service. I ordered a pair of shorts and received the wrong size. The bag's sticker was marked correctly ,but the shorts in it were a differrent size. Called the 800#. The customer rep apologized and Fed X'd me the right size. There was no charging me for the replacements. They simply asked that I return the pair in the prepaid mailer that is packed with every shipment. They even threw in a fistful of Tootsie rolls into the Fed Ex box.

I've bought stuff from them on eBay. I don't remember the details or what I even bought from them, but eBay says my experience was positive.

Question:

is there an online retailer generally known for being universally fast??

i can understand some retailers being faster to some people due to proximity, buuuut i was wondering if there is some place basically known for being super fast shippers....

oh and to add to the list (well its probably been mentioned and i missed it)
wiggles bike store in the uk....some of the best prices new on a good number of things (like some brooks saddles) AND very quick shipping. they are in the UK, me in california, and i got my order quicker from them in the UK than some bike retailers in the states....some on the same coast!

I can not say anyone comes to mind with "fast" (aside from the Amazon Prime my fiancée and I are signed up for...free two day shipping!) but anytime I order something from Niagra cycles via Amazon, they take at least 2 weeks.

Universal Cycles generally ships the next business day for me. Beyond that the speed is up to how much you want to pay and how fast USPS/UPS/FedEx are to your door.

I use Universal Cycles quite a bit (no sales tax!). I also like Cambriabike.com. They both have a great selection of parts. I don't know what's happening over at Nashbar, but their inventory and selection seems to be in the liquidation phase. I used to phone order from them before they had a website (early 80's) and even stopped by their store when I was traveling for work. I'd hate to see them go.

Universal has a couple of codes out now - "vip10" for 10% off or "vip15" for 15% off depending on how much you order.

I placed an order yesterday and was able to choose free shipping for some reason I don't fully understand (ships from different warehouses or something like that). I'll report back when it gets here.
