Jackass until complete. Then it's up to Scrod.

If the owner thinks it's finished, he's a jackass.

I was going to do it if it hadn't already been done. This is probably a better place all around for his posts.

Not hate. Genuine disbelief/curiosity as to why someone would spend the time doing this. The person who did this clearly has skills. I'd have thought they could be applied to something more useful.

Wish I lived in Quebec. I've always wanted a vig.

Sorry, but there's no excuse that that thing wasn't stolen.

Campy record pista cranks too! Just the cranks alone would make it wild for a thief to take it....

Humenbean 03-11-12 12:08 AM

That's either a ****ing trap or in Japan. Yes that's how bikes get locked in Japan. ****'s just safe there. I saw a kid riding around on a $2500 bike (couch surf.) He at MOST chained his frame to his wheel, and that was when he was super paranoid. He did this and often left his bike outside his apartment to save space. Never stolen.

That's because the Japanese people respect their fellow man. After the Tsunami there was no looting or raping or other types of scummy behavior that goes along with natural disasters of that scale.

They have a little something called honor over in Japan.

It's more if a guilt/shame thing than respect for others. Similar, but different. Fear of shaming their social group is more of a factor than respect for fellow man (not that they don't have that):

According to Ruth Benedict's shame culture/guilt culture analysis, an important factor keeping crime low is the traditional emphasis on the individual as a member of groups to which he or she must not bring shame. Within these groups—family, friends, and associates at work or school—a Japanese citizen has social rights and obligations, may derive emotional support, and meets powerful expectations to conform. These informal social sanctions display potency despite competing values in a changing society.

While it is still a great deal safer than back in the States, stuff is slowly changing over here. I know of a handful of bikes that were stolen over the past 6 months or so. I have heard that a good amount of stuff that gets stolen here ends up over in the rest of asia

Ya! A surly fork would work. Does one fit in the rear?
