There was this dude on a street bike sitting in traffic in the middle of town, revving the crap his engine so everyone would look at him. I passed him on my bicycle yelling, "VROOOM VROOM!!" I don't know why, but this made me laugh hysterically the rest of the way home. I'm pathetic hahaha

I think hipsterism is brought up way too frequently in regards to fixed gear bikes. Yeah it's irritating when people do things just to fit a certain image, but talking about it all the time just means you care too much. I like people who don't give a ****.
One time I was next to this guy at a red light, and he did track stand... I'll admit it was kind of sexy... I definitely checked him out, but then I noticed his Deep Vs and was like meh.

I ride the worlds biggest pos high ten fixed gear, Vilano SS with eighth inch julians. I bought it before i started lurking here and thought i was bad ass. My BB is shot and my headset is no longer smooth. Suffice to say, i hate my bike.
edit: also, i got the julians because the stock hubs went to crap in 4 months.

When I got my ride 2 years ago, i did some basic googling to see what the general feedback for it was. (That's confession 1) BF/SSFG was the very first link i clicked on, and it was downhill from there. General consensus: Dawes MTA = turd. Oh well.
It's heavy. It's got crap components. It's a little too big. Ain't worth the upgrades. Confession 2: these sentiments echoed in my head every time I rode it 10 miles to work and back. Eventually those thoughts transitioned into more positive ones, like the fact that the bike was a christmas present from my sister and the awesomeness of that alone sometimes made up for the BMX cranks, and i couldn't ignore the fact that i was slowly losing weight and the daily commute started to get easier. Best advice i ever got from reading these forums was "just ride the damn thing".
Still have the bike, with numerous yet economical upgrades. Confession 3: I bought a pair of pink veeps from a friend solely on the deal he gave me, but i'm kinda digging pink wheels on black frame. I keep saving up for a new frame, then end up using the money for something else instead (new camera, records, eats). Eventually i'll get it together to upgrade, but it's funny how my initial insecurities caused by perusing BF were eventually alleviated by the same forum. I like this bike, if not for any other reason than it's mine.

I see those kinda bikes all time. What some people will do for the sake of impressing their friends. I don't know which is worse. The kids that build these monstrosities, or their friends that are impressed by them?

Haha yeah, that did sound kinda hipsterrific. Let's try that again:
fixed. oh wait...

anyway, I decided to go brakeless for the my birthday/first day of Spring break. I rode for an hour with just drops and it sucked. I went home and put on my hoods and it was all good. I am the fred of brakeless.
