Today marked four months since I was hit by a car while cycling. I also spent the majority of the day at the hospital for my 2nd shoulder surgery (hopefully last surgery ever). Recovery period is supposed to be from 6-12 weeks. Hopefully closer to 6 haha, since its been 4 months since I've rode.
I've been there. I was trying to ride my trainer with my damn arm sling a few weeks in lol. |
Started the new job today- First day at the lab. Personal projects are a go. So very excited about actually making a living and having real money to throw at collecting bikes. Y'all ain't seen nothing yet. :)

How's the dealership's return policy? |
LOL yes my dealer plates are still there.
pretty slow collision so it really wasn't that bad at all (just some bumper and hatch damage) and everyone is just fine. it just sucks that the car is so new (~450 miles)... i almost feel bad that the dude is gonna have to cough up deductible and probably get higher rates. CARS MAN WHY |
Today I left my front lamp attached when I arrived school. I'll never see it again.
|
went to ikea. then decided to south lake loop. then decided to sammamish loop. then decided to mercer loop.
came home after 104 miles. first ever solo century. |
Placed an order for a 2013 Leader 725 in gloss corsa red, Leader SPCA-1 carbon seatpost, and a Leader I0TR fork. I am currently wearing Depends waiting for it to get in.

Rode home in 37 knot wind with gusts up to 50 knots, wasn't that fun
|
Today I forgot I had to go to work, until my alarm kept going off
|
Today I nearly ate it. I was whip skidding on an SPD clipless setup and the foot that I pull up with (left) disengaged while I was going full speed. Went home, put my SPDs back on the road bike and the toe clips back on the fixed immediately. Good times.

Today I'm going on a ride with my boss. He told me that if I didn't go out on his training ride, I was a huge *****, so now I have to. The problem is that he is a Cat2 roadie, and multiple-year (including last year) state CX champ. Dude is fast as ****, and he will be going out on a SuperSix EVO with Red and Cosmic Carbones, while I'm on my ****ing Lager. I'm gonna throw it into beast mode for as long as I can. Wish me luck. |

Noooooo! Maybe it's a Mazda3 curse... My front grill got smashed by an idiot (while parked on the street) a few weeks after I bought it. I was REALLY lucky I had just parked and was walking away when he hit it -- I heard the crunch and ran back and he couldn't drive away. He was REALLY lucky that all he hit was the grill, which is super easy/cheap to replace. He ended up just paying me the $250 himself rather than involving insurance.

So, it ended up being a group of fifteen roadies, all of whom were on full carbon rigs with wheelsets that cost more than my bike, and me. Stuck with them for the first fifteen or so miles in a double paceline at around 20mph.
Then the ride went to ****. Front flat. Got dropped because they couldn't hear me over the headwind. Beast mode engaged to try to catch up. At the 25 mile mark, I see them about 1/4 mile ahead. Super beast mode engaged. "I will ****ing catch them" becomes my mantra. Hit a patch of black ice going downhill at around 30mph. Spectacular crash ensues, wherein I land squarely on my left hip and shoulder and tumble end over end. That happens to be the shoulder that never quite healed from a separation and broken collarbone a couple years ago. Decide to turn. 10 miles later, second front flat, this one was a sharp rock that shredded my tire. Walked to a train station a mile away, and while waiting for the train, the group passes on their way back in. On the bright side, there were only about 8 left, so I wasn't the only one to get dropped, just the first. New tire Friday, and I'm gonna try again next week. Maybe. |
Today I took my first ride from Astoria to Brooklyn. Then as it was such a nice day, I decided to go a little further...
Ended up doing a 25 mile ride through 3 boroughs. So much fun. Steep learning curve! |

Today I said goodbye to one of my best friends. Our cat Fickle (aka Ham) passed away very unexpectedly last night and to say we're devastated is an understatement.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psd08ce644.jpg I love you, kid. |
Dude... Sorry man.
