No, you should get the real deal and support Oakley

Their parent company Luxotica took in ~$580M USD of pure profit last year.... just sayin. I'm sure they'll miss his money.

Oh yeah, Made in China. =/

I've never been a fan of buying knock offs/reps, that's just me. Yes, I'm sure the company makes their monies worth but the knock off brand didn't do anything but copy a design.

I'm also coming from a car enthusiast background where the name brand usually means higher quality also.

today was alright, work then gym. Now just a few beers. Been doing just a few beers a night now for a couple of days. Im alot faster at work, more focused but i just feel those few beers arent enough and feel shorted and it pisses me off because im far more productive on less but my brain is saying MORE.

I bought a pair of fakes on the beach once for $20...they broke by the time I left the beach. Tear up a $20 bill, it's about the same difference.

It may seem ridiculous to drop $100-$500 on a pair of sunglasses, but there's a huge difference in quality between a nice pair and the cheap crap you buy at the gas station. Just watch the online deal sites, oakleys are so common, they go on sale constantly.

Whoa, you mean knock-off Oakleys are dangerous and will break if you drop a 1,000 lb. weight on them?! Seriously, they're sunglasses. Who cares if they're cheap? A friend of mine claimed he couldn't wear Serfas sunglasses because the optics of the lenses gave him a headache. I think it was a lame excuse for preferring to buy Oakleys.

misskaz 03-25-13 08:48 AM

I have two pairs of prescription sunglasses on the way that cost me a total of $40, from zennioptical.com. But they aren't knock-offs, just cheapo originals direct from the manufacturer. :D

That's where I got my pair. They're the only people I found who will put greater than a ±8.00 lens in their sunglasses. Cost like 90 bucks, but that was due to extra fees for the heavy prescription.

anyone have luck getting a replacement for the stock kilo fork?

I have a black one with a huge steerer I got as a replacement.
I took pictures of my brake touching the tire and emailed them to bd saying it had clearance issues and I received the fork like three days later.

I loosened the recessed nut on my brake : o

wait what?..why?..do you work for them? or would you just rather not spend that money on your bike or taking someone out on a date?
chances are you will brake the shades in like a 3months time, my mom just asked me for some shades, guess where my money will not be spent;)

UV protection is important here, thats about as far as the test needs to go' the sunglasses at the 7-11 and gas station give you uv protection too,
dont get me wrong tho, im huge on cars and had a custom e36 obd1 where i would not go near the cheap stuff at all , but were not talking about cars, were talking about shades'
like would you go get the tint of your car from the dealership and pay $600 or would you go to the mom and pop shop and get it for $98 when its the same ordeal all in all.
..think about it :innocent:

Will the $98 mom and pop special be all hazy and bubble after a few months of sun like you see on every car that has a ****ty $100 tint job?

I'm for saving money and all, but there's something to be said about a nice pair of sunglasses. I have several pair, ranging in price from $12 to $300...you can tell the difference in quality. But that's not to you can't get quality for cheap, I paid $55 for my Raen's, they come with carl zeiss lenses and are every bit as nice as my $300 Dolce and Gabannas.

striknein 03-25-13 03:12 PM

Consumerism is alive and well in BFSSFG today

calv 03-25-13 03:45 PM

Agreed. I thought ~$100 for some raybans were expensive.

Probably. Next time I will put a disclaimer by the video saying "This is not directly bike related," just for you ;)

No, I don't work for Oakley. I've had a pair of Oakleys for the past 4 years and they haven't broke yet, maybe I should crash more lol

So, why didn't you get a a Visp or an Unknown frame instead of your 735? :innocent:

So if you're wondering why you haven't gotten a response in an hour and a half, it's because the collective hands of BFSSFG are still trying to lift their collective jaws from their collective floors.

TO CHANGE THE SUBJECT: Today I discovered the nacho bar at work. It works out to about $3/lb. of food. High-school-striknein is dancing with frugal glee because grownup striknein can now afford more bike parts!

Today I rode home after a run and the wind whooped my a$$. When you have to work to ride downhill, it's windy.
