Don't do it. That bike is beautiful.

You all are probably right. But performance.

Today i took a ride into the city to look at jackets, and i think im sold on the showers pass elite

getting there however, what an adventure.

In the 16 miles from my house to the ferry, i had my '87 original tire finally blow out on me and had the treads seperate, and blew out my tire

i patched the tube and booted the hole with a dollar bill hoping that the nearby lbs would have a tire

a block from the shop it blows out again in a different spot, so i just rode it flatted down the block

arrived at the first shop, (the one who suggested bashing off my crownrace with a flathead screwdriver and hammer previously) and they didnt even know what a 27" tire was, he thought a 700x28 was gonna fit.

I said ok let me go to the atm, and left and went down the block to what i assumed was a worse shop, but they actually had tools and were building wheels in the back

had a tire and tube, mounted them ****s up and proceeded on my day

Realized that rei is an unorganized mess and that noone sells underarmour outside of dicks

now my beater bike costs me aproximately $35

TMonk 02-18-13 03:36 PM

i forget which model i have but my showers pass jacket is bomb

Are you serious? Haha, I never would have guessed. I was in the same boat when it came to basketball shoes and stuff. I used to work for Nike, so the discount helped a lot.

You know about Niketalk and ISS then?

I gave up all of that a long time ago, but I do like cycling sneakers a lot.

lol I thought I was the only recovering sneaker addict that moved to cycles. glad to know there are more here, I was into dunks and retros for a bit

By the looks of them most of them are probably surviving on ramen just to get next weeks pair of colorful sneakers.

This. probably the reason I haven't bought a pair in two years. for me it was never this whole 'look what I got that you dont' aspect, I just respected the history and designs of the shoes. unfortunately its kinda blown up and 'sneakerheadzz' ****** bags are running rampant with the 'hottest releases'

don't make friends with anyone in the corporate offices. I know a guy that has gotten access to the employee store in beaverton and you will end up walking out with 6 pairs of shoes you dont need an a couple hundred bucks lighter

Adrian_ 02-18-13 04:04 PM

Today I went out for a ride to take some action shots and left my keys at home so I was locked out until someone came to let me in (two hours) Went to my friends house and waited then got home and made Spaghetti with pasta sauce and Sriracha. twas good.

LOL, thats actually a pretty good analogy.

I never got into sneakers...dress shoes on the other hand, I have about 12 pair. I think my most expensive I own are $300 John Varvatos wintips...however, I also make a living while in them, so theres that.

Not really a good analogy.

Addictive drugs are one thing and only serve one purpose, to get you high.

Certain sneakers are viewed as investments nowadays, because of sentimental value and connections to various achievements in sports. There's a lot of history with Jordans first shoes and the NBA fines he received. OG Jordan I's go for thousands of dollars sometimes, when they used to sit on clearance racks for $20 when they first came out. So you better believe people collect every pair of Lebrons ever released because someday they might be worth a lot, although I personally doubt that.

Hate to say it, but sneakers are like art. There are people who collect them, shrink wrap them and just display them at home. Certain limited editions go for well over $3-4000. I don't agree with a lot of it, but cycling has it's share of trendiness, hipsters and limited edition collaborations as well.

First thing that comes to mind for me are Campagnolo anniversary groups and Kagero

You're the motor, not the bike, mang

bike makes a difference when you apply large amounts of power and/or ride up mountains

I don't know, I think paying $4k for sneakers made in a sweatshop would also give me a nosebleed.

Today I got Sriracha in my eye. ;(

Mumonkan 02-18-13 08:00 PM

ow. how did you manage that?

Street rider 02-18-13 08:01 PM

This morning I pulled the trigger on the stock Cobra during the Chrome sale. Then after classes, I just kind of hung around the apartment. It really needs to get warm again so I can get back on the bike more. I'm also still trying to find a few people to team up with for a 24 hr stationary bike ride next month. So far its just me and my dad, and without more people its really really really going to suck.

Made fries with ketchup and sriracha, and ate them with my hands. When I was done I forgot sauce was on my hand and rubbed my eye.

My sqrl saw the pain I was in and splashed a cup of milk in my face which did not help.
