Today I woke up with a fever. As I did yesterday. And the day before. And the day before.

I think it's time to go to the doctor.

Yesterday i rode the Five Boro Bike Tour. Well, half-rode, and half-waited-hours-for-people-to-clear-the-bottlenecks. I'm wearing Scrod's pants. They're pretty awesome.

last night, after some burgers, beers, fries, and good ol fashion foxtailin, i tried to beat my girl home in a cab vs. bike battle. took 2 pushes and snapped my chain. luckily, i had a spare one at home, but had to push my bike home like a skateboard.

she beat me

and, as i'm replacing the chain this morning, i saw that my broken chain had bent a spoke on the back wheel out. it's a never ending battle with this thing... haha. maybe it's a sign to get rid of these stupid b43....

Thanks! Didn't feel like carrying a bag for the whole trip. I unfortunately didn't take many bike pictures, which is too bad, since the whole thing was like a big moving car show with thirty thousand cars. Except most of the cars are Corollas or *******, and they're all bikes. I saw a quad bike (not that kind), fully loaded. That was cool.

I still had a blast. The ride was ~40 mi from the start to the end festival, starting in Battery Park and making a north loop through the boros and ending in Staten Island. It was almost wholly flat save for the Queensboro Bridge and the Verrazano, which was a nice fun climb. About 2/3 was on city streets (all closed off) and the rest was on expways. Since i was with a buddy who rode his childhood mtb the slow pace didn't really bother me--quite a few roadies were pretty agitated, though. Apparently there were more delays this year than in previous years, due to construction on the Gowanus and elsewhere, so there was much standing. I also now have the most ridiculous farmer's tan, with glove lines and a hole marks to boot.

There were not a lot of ssfg reps at this ride. Which was disappointing, but not necessarily surprising. I saw a pod of azn tarckstars near the start and then it was mostly townies, butt ugly conversions, and the odd dude on a pista.

excellent first post

Today the kids who lived above moved out and left this Alante behind.

It's not in great shape, but it's not too bad either. It's a fairly nice looking frame so if I strip it and paint it it could be a cool start for a single speed mtb. I have been thinking about a ss mtb lately for something to rip around dirt roads and some trails.

ss/fg content...

If you guys like L&O, I just started watching The Killing (on AMC, available on demand if you want to catch up) and think you might like it. Pretty good crime drama, very heart-wrenching and quite the downer, though.

Yesterday I worked my ass off on the backyard and it doesn't really look any better. The previous owners of this house had very... interesting ideas for what to do with it.

Today I am still very sunburned from Dark Lord Day on Saturday. The sweater I am wearing is not soft enough for sunburned shoulders, but I have to keep it on at work to cover my tattoo.

Today I switched out the 90mm Thomson X4 stem on my Leader 725 for a 70mm and my bike feels pretty perfect.

Because of the 28mm rake the I806 carbon fork has, it actually feels a lot nicer - especially when I'm out on the horns. I think it looks better too (which is obviously way more important).

I concur with this statement completely. I'd further like to add
Dat Bike. Leader's top tube is so god damn long you could ride with a BMX stem and not be terribly uncomfortable. Though my Leader had so much fork rake I could technically bar spin a 700. Not that I cared to, but I tried once or twice, unfortunately bullhorns didn't let that happen.

Today riding my Trek T1 for the first time to work (since my car died on Saturday) I fell. As I was taking off from a stop a 3rd or 4th car decided they were going to make a left as the light turned. I stopped in time but also lost my balance and fell over in the middle of the road. I now have 3 cuts on my legs and bruised palms.

Wishes it's friday already; and no there's no rebecca black involved; the little brat can get dp'd by the business end of my seatpost. On another note, my coffin got me a speeding ticket.

Today I got an AM ride, and stopped mid ride for breakfast. While sitting at the table, I took this shot:

Rode home, freshened up a bit, took dad to the hospital for bloodwork.
Got home, did the line cutting around the fence, changed got a 2nd ride in, once done, I clean the bike off....
