I don't start for two weeks, I love being on the quarter system.

Also, today I ordered my Surly Steamroller and am super excited for it. Hopefully it'll get here and I'll be able to build it up before school starts.

Yeah, when I pedal up past 25 I start bouncing too, but I'm almost always in traffic, so I rarely get up that high. When I'm at normal cruise speeds it feels great.

Get her a road oriented SS instead; face it, she'll eventually be asking for that once she gets a beach cruiser.

I'm aware. She doesn't like hand brakes, and though they're not great, I dig SE bikes and am trying to talk her into the SE Draft Coastie. She's pretty set on a "cute bike made for girls to go slow on with a basket on the front" though so who knows.

Get her a themed bianchi pista. My wife was head over heels for the via condotti when she laid her eyes on it; it just gets better with upgraded townie parts. That reminds me, I should take some pictures of it and share once I get back.

Not great I guess, but faster than I thought, so that's a plus.
Those GPS speedometers may measure distance-traveled well, but speed data can be wildly inaccurate. If you have the funds, get a basic computer (wired or wireless).

I use the Cateye Strada on my road bike:

https://www.cateye.com/en/products/detail/CC-RD300W/
https://www.amazon.com/Cateye-CC-RD30.../dp/B003GNTCJI

But there are less expensive options that do the same things: https://www.performancebike.com/bikes...egoryId=400127

I have a Strada too and I love it, the only gripe I have is the dismounting system. Sometimes I accidentally reset my ride data when I take it off.

Today I had my second swim meet of the season. We swam against 2 other teams today. I was first in the 200 medley and then the 500 (20 laps). In the end we beat one team and tied the other! I brought my 500 time down though so I'm happy!

Bikes: Caad9, Fixed gear, Hardrock beater, 3 speed cruiser

Today I put my $10 35c tires on my fixed gear, and made a spray flap for the front tire. Its really awesome to ride, I think I might put drops and 8 speeds in the back :x

Ha! Yeah, I've done the same thing several times. I've done it while holding the bike by the stem while moving it. That's definitely a flaw in the system.

Congrats on the PB in the 500.

Thanks! Although I wasn't even close to the state time I was stoked that I got a new personal best!

I'd like to point out that in real life (not bike forums) 22 mph is a very respectable speed. Really. I probably average around 16, and I'm sure many people here do as well. You should be proud!

Way to go homebrewk. I could never figure out which was harder, the 200 or the 500. The 200 is pretty much a sprint event, but once you hit a certain level of fitness so is the 500. I was better at the 200 though, I was the type of person to take it out near my 100 time and hang on for dear life.

Today I tried out a CAAD10, which was pretty sweet. Later I went to the track to try out a 48-14 gearing. Hit a new top speed, which I'm proud of even though it was a lowly 33.5mph.

Thanks, but after Carleton pointed out how inaccurate the gps speedometers are, I decided to ride next to a friend in a car and have him tell me how fast I was going. Turns out I peaked at 24, yet the gps said I was going 28, and I averaged around 18, but the thing said I was averaging 22.5. Still not too bad.

Today I found out that when bikesdirect says "KMC Gold Edition (1/8 or 3/32 NoChoice)" they meant 3/32 on my bike. Bah humbug need new chain before the scrodcog can be used.

Bikes: tirove

rode this to work

then came home and built it into this

before realizing my newjack 105 brakes(not that new jack. yellow logos, first edition 105) won't fit these brake holes. probably going to put the wald front basket on to utilize this hilarious stem.
LOVE these dt shifters. then if i can help the cross threadings on the fd i'll put the da cranks on and have a road bike. oh, and fenders. and then comes the rando rack and bag, big tires, dynamo front wheel and lights, and brooks. then it's winter tour time.
