ha. I remember when my first set came in and posting how I was surprised at how cheap the bb felt and was concerned. I was probably told to HTFU

I know I could have fixed the problem with a better BB but - despite the fact that I still really like Omniums and think they're a great crankset - I'm over dealing with GXP anything.

On the flip side, Angie has a set of S-300s with a black GXP BB that are quiet as can be. She's also a good 80 lbs lighter than me though.

Yeah, scrod, I'm wondering if being 200ish is the reason for our noise. I know the skinny dude who rides them around here has no issues with his.

Today I got screwed out of another $200 on books because I had the old edition . I'm finally feeling pretty unpacked in my new dorm room but now I don't wanna go out and get another couch because I just spent so much on books. firstworldproblem.

Anyway, I haven't been on a good ride since I've been in spokane and really need to get back out there. Also cringing at some of the new sketchy singlespeed conversions on campus that are still using a full cassette and multispeed chain.

@epicschwinn -let me drop this on you. never buy textbooks. reasons. 1. you can generally borrow them from a library. 2. if you really need it for an assignment, ask a girl. study date. boom. 3. huggggge rip off. 4. wait until two weeks into classes. feel out which professors are assigning a lot of work from the textbooks, then if you HAVE to; buy it. my freshman year, i bought ALL the required books and maybe opened two of them.

in the 4.5 years of college i did, i probably spent $1000 total. (mostly english literature that i enjoyed and still own)

Agreed whole-heartedly. I got through culinary college without ever buying the assigned gen-ed books. I just used my roommate's stuff when he was at work.

Rode over to the library to return some books and quickly realized why I don't commute much in summertime. On the way home some random girl in a car yell "I love you!" while passing me at 50mph. Bizarre.

Sidenote to the textbook talk: ebay(clearly) and pdf books ftw. I don't know what school you went to that carries them at the library, but we have far too many students for that to ever fly. I lived off old editions and international editions for the gen-ed stuff as they were cheaper, and my major tends to use actual books instead of textbooks.

library carried one or two copies of all textbooks for Gen-Ed classes but you couldn't leave the library with them / had to use them there. went to a small Christian university in minneapolis

when I was in school the library usually had a copy or two of the texts on reserve. you could only check it out for an hour at a time or overnight if the library was about to close.

"new editions" of textbooks are the biggest bunch of bs ever. I remember checking what the differences were between the new and old editions. it was a few more chapter notes and about 1 paragraph added to the end of the book.

I still pay a huge amount for 'textbooks', even following the above tips. The plain fact is that now they charge you for online services and often instructors use university-specific textbooks that are difficult to find on half.com or borrow. Couple that with the fact that our library is still under construction and I don't want to have any friends and the resultant unavoidable is that I've just got to shell it out.

@ those saying i don't need no stinking textbooks

The book for this class has all the homework assignments and spreadsheets which are usually about 2-3 hours long and we get an assignment every class period so it would suck to have to be in the library to use it (if the library even carries it). It's new this summer and there are hardly any used ones available and I need it and the software that comes with it by Monday so I'm not going to wait for someone on half.com to ship it. When I do buy textbooks I always get them online for as cheap as possible or from friends when I can. I'm definitely not that guy that buys all the books new from the book store.

Right now the bids for the unpopular sizes are up to around $3,500. One is up to $75,000. You can buy a whole neighborhood in Detroit for $75,000.

Yeah I'm gonna hold off until the end; the prices skyrocketed since I put that up from the already high prices; I'm determined through, gonna let the hype simmer a bit. Agh size 10... But who knows, I might be able to snag a couple of pairs for profit!

True that; I heard Detroit's gone south from the recession caused industrial pull out.
