Today I finally got my girlfriend to go on a bike ride with me. 6 miles is better than nothing I suppose.

Same problem here. She hates going for long rides.

discovered i could use a nickel to hold the back of a chain ring bolt, while successfully using the Sheldon method to center my chainring.

Today I did a 3 hour session here:

Came home, finished cutting grass, then put in 30 miles on the 930.

Looks awesome. Sometimes I wish there was more here than just open cornfields.

Also, 50 miles is a pretty long ride on that set up. Kudos.

What are the repercussions from mounting a tire backwards? Just curiosity.

But seriously. If I'm informed correctly the grooves in tires are to channel water away from the center of the tread as it rolls. Theoretically, mounting it backwards would do the opposite but from what I've heard you really can't hydroplane a road bike so it shouldn't matter too much.

Your bike will tend to roll backwards more easily.

Epic, that's what I figured. Seau, makes sense.

Today I: babysat an adorable 9 month old, offered my house to a friend of mine who is a recovering alcoholic that can't keep a job apartment or relationship for more than 2 months, played a concert where 50 people showed up cuz most of our friends were a mile away at the Weezer show, got paid $10 for the show, and the dude who's currently living on my couch decided he didn't wanna come help me with my drums after all. Ups and downs I guess.

I find it amazing though that I can let someone live with me for free for weeks at a time on multiple occasions, "loan" him money on multiple occasions (quotes because I never get it back), go out of my way to get him jobs that he always gets fired from, call in favors to get him apartments/roommates, and he can't take two hours out of his life to come help me after he ****ing said he would. I don't know whether to be angry or disappointed. I'm debating kicking him out and turning my back, but I can't bring myself to do it.

::EDIT:: I normally don't b*tch about helping people, but I've spent three years helping this guy, and I don't know what more I can do. My wife is even telling me I'm too nice at this point.

It is so ****ing hard for me to do things like that. I've never in my life turned my back on someone.

You are enabling your friend. This is harmful to you, your wife and family, and most of all, your friend who you are trying to help. He will continue to abuse your friendship as long as there are no consequences for his actions.

this couldn't be more true.

in the long run, youre not doing him any good either. its his job to get his ass back in the game, and you can only guide him so far.
