It's pretty expensive. From what I've read online at least $400.

Just to save on airline over size fees...

Well a round trip with a packed full size bike is only $100 on southwest.

Yea it really depends how much you travel.

Also, S&S couplers are cool.

+1 amtrak sucks and costs more than flying... not to mention slower.... not to mention there's possibly times where yo have to take a bus to the next station.

Today I'm going to do a whole day of riding on no sleep, and a considerably lower gear ratio because I can't fit my legs through my jeans. :-/

Bikes: Bike Count: Rising.

Today I crossed off a goal on my 2011 goal list. Do the 3 insanely hard climbs 3 days in a row on the 930. I earned tomorrow's session @ the pumptrack.

We left early to Irvine for the MS bay to bay tour tomorrow; what was supposed to take a little under an hour stretched to 3 bumper to bumper; socal rubbernecking is the worst.

Rode ten miles to a fundraiser, cooked at said fundraiser next to former bosses of mine that are considered some of the best chefs in America. It was nice to run out of my dish an hour before theirs ran out even though I had more food, but it was even nicer to have the man who is considered one of the best chefs in the world telling me that my food is outstanding and that he's proud to have me as a former employee. Then, I wandered around the event eating the other chef's food, drinking obscene amounts of whisky, and socializing with the other chefs realizing that I've actually begun to "make it". Then I rode home and now I'm gonna go get hammered. Fantastic evening.

Today I woke up too hung over to make my morning 40mi commute, so as penance I did a lunch time ride:

It was hot and I was still feeling ****ty. Never drinking that much the day before riding again.

It wasn't too bad tonight, but definitely a lot of unsafe riders, especially during periods of high congestion.

I had fun, though, and there were a lot of sup sqrls going around.

This one girl started laughing at me, asked me how I was dealing with clipless with all the commotion, told her it was my first time, so I had no idea as to what to expect. She asked if it was my first time in SJ or BP. I replied both. She continued laughing, so I rode off.

*****es be crazy.

It was my first one, some girl invited me, so I figured I would to leave Monterey and ride my bike somewhere else for a bit.

Bikes: everywhere

got this wheel into rotation. I pumped grease in until I saw fresh red grease outside but apparently it needs a little more flushing seeing that rusty slurry that oozed out during a 7 mile ride.

Today we are running a tech stand at a local environmental festival and were just informed they won't be serving lunch like they did last year.

i'm impressed. but, i'm not a chef, just a foodie with what i'm told are more than passable skills. also, after filling in in a pro kitchen for one night i discovered that i'm not capable of drinking that much....
