Installed new wheels. American Classic track hubs ride like butter. Decided I need new bars.

Today I decided to put my Raleigh on craigslist to fund my next build (ss full rigid 29er). I love how people in my home town pay BANK for any used bike.

Well, I was thinking of moving over the parts from my current frame because the new frame has a shorter TT that fits me better and it is a slightly nicer frame (although neither is close to high-end). I dont know when I will do it. I want to take my current frame and make it a low geared SS townie bike. I have most of the parts to do both of these but I still need to buy some stuff and I want to get my touring bike going and I dont have a job...

My opinion on what? One of the fastest guys in my 'club' (if you can call it that - basically just a bunch of SF -> south bay area commuters with some rides on the weekends) regularly rides his fixed gear. His idea of a 'steady pace' is not dipping below 24mph. He also takes his fixed (Ti, carbon wheels, powertap, etc) on Skyline commutes (48mi, 3k feet of climbing). I'm convinced he is a robot.
It did change my opinion on thinking it was going to be hellish riding more than about 15 miles, with decent effort on my Kilo though and I really did have a lot of fun. Steel is soooooo buttery smooth haha.

Today I:
Went downtown to get some Mexican food, then gelato. So good. After that I shot the breeze with a friend of mine for 3 hours and played with their dog.

Today was the first Saturday that NYC has their "summer streets". For 3 Saturdays in a row, they close Park Avenue to cars for a stretch of about 5 miles in both directions from 7am-1pm. GF and I had a good time mingling with runners and other cyclists.
Didn't get a picture, but I also saw a guy with a pretty nice Pista riding FG, but no brakes / foot retention. 0_o

Today (Last night) I learned that ancient drop handlebar brake levers do not lend themselves well to flat bar brake cable setup. Got fed up and tore brakes off. Learned that brakes aren't really required for my 15 mile commute along protected bike lanes and practically traffic-free neighborhood streets of Tacoma.
Got roaring drunk, rode home. Today I'm nursing a vindictive hangover and fawning over the clean lines of a brakeless bicycle. Cross lever, you're next on my purchase list!

Today I am going to a bachelor party... as the guest of honour.
Oddly enough... it is my female friends who are putting this together.

Yesterday I found a Set of very good condition Bridgstone SC brake calipers (Free bin at the Co-Op). Had to change the mounting bolt, but they work really well. Only using 1 of course until I have the money to convert my bike back to a 10 speed! :-) I do need to check that bin more often.

Today, after going on a solo ride and meeting a bunch of awesome TT riders, who more than gladly let me ride with them and explained the sport to me. After returning, I took all the townie stuff off my paddywagon except porteur rack, summer mode, and went for a ride around the block a couple of times; all of a sudden it's so much satisfyingly, more agile.

TIL ("today I learned" for people who don't know when the narwhal bacons) that 29er wheels are not 29" but rather 700c's - Not to mention the 27" wheels with 24.8" diameters. Who names these things?!

Today I:
Not only did I cycle to the end of the Springwater Corridor this time, I also did my first Half Century with no blips! Thought about doing it fixed, but I wanted to see if I could even tackle it on the 722.

I am still undecided which way to take the rebuild... but I am also on the hunt for a new wheelset and until I find that new wheelset, I won't be swapping anything around. I thought it would happen at the beginning of the month (payday) but an SSD got in the way.
Today I:
We'll start with yesterday, when we called amazon to let them know that our SSD hard drive that was ordered on the 1st has not shown up (2 day Prime)... They promptly sent out a new one with free overnight delivery. Today, I received that package, opened the box, only to find the package for the hard drive is totally broken open (the hard drive can easily slide out). I already called amazon, and they said we can send it back for a refund, but I am tempted to tell them that the hard drive was never in the package... but I am just not sure how to handle the situation...

And thought of Hairnet on the 49cm pro-fit bike.
